The Baron Kyalami — Restaurant in Gauteng

I drove past this place the other day and I was planning to come and dine in because I had good expectations given the bypass impression.

Since I ordered delivery from them yesterday, I have no heart to go near this restaurant whatsoever.

The burger was extremely dry despite ordering a medium cooked. There was ZERO juice in that patty and swallowing it called for a throat weight lifter.

There was barely anything else on the “burger” to compliment the so called “juicy patty” . Extremely stingy on the veggies too??? There was literally one slice of tomato and almost no lettuce. And that was it.

Chips were okay, but not salted nor spiced. Neither were any condiments packed. Honestly I wouldn’t have minded but the burger set me off.

I would later on experience a discomfort I won’t bother going into details because no restaurant ever takes responsibility for these things as they can be successfully argued on their end. This would then explain the need to overcook the patty.

To summarize : I don’t think whoever made my food gives a flying Zap and perhaps no one is checking the food standards in this place.

After a few bad experiences with The Baron in Kyalami, I thought of giving them another chance. I had ordered the vegan burger with a side salad. It comes at a price of R180 for the burger, and for the salad they charge an extra R5. The burger however is not complete, as they leave the cheese out obviously. Cheese is not vegan obviously. When I asked if they can give something else for the cheese, they said they can’t. I then spoke to the manager and asked him, how in this day and age, they do not have a vegan cheese alternative. He then substituted the cheese for avocado, which is appreciated, but not quite the same as cheese. When I got to the restaurant to collect the order, one of the ladies was standing at the front, digging in her nose. Quite disgusting! Especially in a restaurant, where they handle the food we order. The vegan burger was okay but not great. The salad, which I ordered with it, was good. All in all, it is way too expensive for the quality and service provided. Last week Saturday we booked a table to watch the Rugby. On the phone my husband said to the host that we need to be seated close to a TV. She said all is fine. My husband arrived first and discovered that we were seated at the fire place. And refused to move us, even though there was plenty open tables. he then called for the manager.
