Local Focal — Restaurant in Gauteng

Had supper and drinks there last night (24/04/2024), and it was unusually quiet.

The food was fine (had the meaty basket), and drinks were served promptly.

What bowled me over was the fact that the doors started closing, at 20:15! The worst of it all was when the last patrons (who sat inside) left for the evening, all the lights were turned off and everyone buggered off! We (the actual last patrons) were left to sit outside, by ourselves, in pitch darkness, finishing our drinks. I have never in my life come across such a thing.

I cannot give a realistic rating for atmosphere since it was very quiet, probably due to the time...

It’s a real shame because this place could be so much more.

The real. Problem are the waiters. Predatory (harass for tip), poor service and arrogant. They seem to run the place with no management oversight.

I go here sporadically these days, used to be my local. interaction with the waiters is always laborious and an issue.

I once ordered a drink after paying. And the waiter just didn’t bother bringing me the order. As I’d paid and tipped already.

But the venue is not bad at all. Just badly run.

We had our monthly treat and enjoyed our meal, the service was good but this time was an exception. We were seated in our car when a gentleman knocked on the window introduced himself as the new owner and inquired whether we had been given pensioners discount. When we told him that we had not asked for one, he took our slip and quickly returned with the altered slip and difference in cash. I was truly impressed and will surely recommend this delightful place and will surely pay a return visit. Thank...
