Decent coffee, disappointing service

My recent visit to Motherland Coffee in Rivonia left me with mixed feelings. The general atmosphere lacked the inviting ambiance you might expect from a coffee shop, making it more suitable for a quick caffeine fix than a cozy coffee outing. The set up looks good and is probably a good place to get some work done as they even have a separate meeting room, but if you are going for a social coffee or smoothy, choose the take out option.

My first visit - and probably the last . Dark depressing atmosphere, although I liked the setup of the shop. My Americano was really not nice. I am a coffee drinker so I know my coffee and beans. I found this blend to be super high in acidity with zero undertones. I ended up drinking half a cup. I think the machine may not have been clean as I picked up excessive powder residue. Worth noting that it was load shedding hour though 14:30 I think. Because I was so engrossed in my meeting I didn't raise my concern, I just sipped small bits till I had enough heartburn. I love Motherland coffee in general, but this location is so cute. They are huge, first of all, with quaint and quiet seating inside and outside. The area is safe and isn't so relaxing, I would love to come sit here and work with some great coffee. I always get the blended ice Latte, it's strong and sweet so perfect for me. I'm keen to try their winter menu, they have a sun-dried orange hot chocolate that sounds great! They also have the biggest variety and quantity of merch that I've seen at a Motherland coffee if that's your thing! Unconfirmed: it looks like they have a boardroom setup that can be rented as a business...
