We arrived at Yes Hotpot around 18:00 and were warmly greeted and led to a table. The waiter briefly explained how the menu, ordering system, drinks, and sauce station worked. So far, so good.
After taking our time to fill in the menu, we tried to get the waiter’s attention for about 30 minutes to place our order. Eventually, the order was taken. However, to our shock, we noticed the table behind us—who had ordered after us—received their hotpot soup first. The waiter then admitted that it was actually our order but the other table refused to give it up, and we were told we’d have to wait again.
In total, it took about 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food to arrive.
To make matters worse, we were not given any serving spoons or ladles. After waiting again and being ignored, we had to get up and ask a waiter ourselves, only to be given one spoon. We asked for the menu to make an additional order (just some tea and side dishes), but this request was also ignored until we physically got up again. When we finally got the menu, the waiter had the nerve to say, “We are very busy and can’t keep track of your requests.” Meanwhile, other tables seemed to have no trouble being attended to.
The staff were inattentive, unhelpful, and completely absent throughout the experience. No one checked on our table, no recommendations were offered, and we had to look at other diners to try figure out how to even operate the hotpot. We were left to guess and fend for ourselves.
The cherry on top? At the end of this terrible evening, the waiter demanded a tip via eWallet, claiming they aren’t allowed to accept cash or card tips.
This was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Zero service, excessive waiting, and outright rude behavior. I would absolutely not recommend Yes...
Read moreRestaurant location: easy to find with a round red sign. parking is available - we parked under News Cafe
Food and Experience: the staff are friendly (yes they can communicate in English if you need) and helpful if this is your first time doing hotpot service is fast and efficient the food is good, but note that the hot is HOT (we immediately took almost all the chilli out before it started boiling and it was still spicy!) the atmosphere is vibey and comfortable, well lit and well decorated.
Some considerations: it is better to go as a smaller party: we attended as a party of 12/13 which resulted in us being put into a “private room”. The room had 2 separate tables which meant we had to split into 2 groups and didn’t get a chance to all eat around the same table. There is also minimum R2000 PER TABLE charge (each table could seat around 8 people) - not inclusive of tip. This could have been because of the private room. the drinks are quite expensive with the alcoholic beverages being R100 per bottle - so it could be pricy if you’re drinking.
Overall it was a good time but was a pricy night with each of us paying R330 -...

The highlight of my visit was definitely the hotpot itself. The broth varieties were rich and flavorful, catering to a wide range of taste preferences, from spicy to savory. The fresh ingredients they offer are top-notch—everything from the assorted meats to the vibrant vegetables and delectable dipping sauces was impressive.
I must also take a moment to commend your waitress , Grace. She was incredibly polite and attentive throughout our meal, ensuring we had everything we needed and offering recommendations that truly enhanced our dining experience. It’s rare to encounter such excellent service, and friendliness which made our visit even more enjoyable.
