I'm so disappointed to the core with the service I had at this restaurant. My day started at the peak. When I tested positive for Covid, my boyfriend never left my side. So this morning I thought of showing my appreciation. I took him out to celebrate my life and him. I took him to Mugg and Bean in East Rand Mall. After waiting for our order for about 20 minutes without a word from the waitress, my boyfriend inquired. He was told that the food is coming. 10 minutes later the manager came and said he is sorry for the delay our food will be ready in a minute. Hsseeing my reaction he asked me if he can do anything to make me comforyable. I kept quite because I was just out of words. By then couples that came minutes after us were now halfway with their meal. He then came back after a while and told us that there is a delay as our order slip was misplaced but the food is coming. After an hour we received our food and I requested a bill for the drinks as I was very emotional and wanted to leave that place ASAP. I lpaid for the drinks and left the food there. I will never again set my foot in that restaurant ever again.
I'm now asking myself that as blacks we will be treated unfairly because as I sat there, the service given to white customers was quick without flaws. I was so hurt and felt that I was mistreated and felt inferior. I hate bad or poor service wholeheartedly. I was going to pay and why was I not informed on time that there was a problem. Have had a previous bad experience and thought I'd give the East Rand Mall another go hoping for better service, better food and an overall better experience. The last time my husband and I ordered an Eggs Benedict and when it got to the table the presentation was terrible as the whole Eggs Bennedict had arrived with bits and pieces all over the plate and the hollandaise sauce spread likewise. The food was also cold when presented. I can only assume this is because the waiter forgot to bring the food from the kitchen as it took over 30 minutes to get the food in the first place. Cold food was anticipated as we watched our waitress fratenising with the manager for most of the time that we were expecting the food to arrive. Only after asking the manager if there was an issue with the food did it arrive a short while later, Cold and with poor presentation. So now we are back and had the same general issue. Ordered the Eggs Benedict, arrived fairly promptly with no Ham, No onion Ring, half a dry hash brown not even placed on the rest of the bennedict and a slice of tomatoe also on the side. Once again poor presentation and to top it all off the Manager saw the commotion and did not even bother to check why we were not happy. Read moreWhilst shopping in East Rand mall we decided to grab some breakfast , Mugg and Bean was busy so we went inside. My wife ordered a wrap and I ordered a cheese and onion omelette with a side of back bacon. The meals were quite frankly awful, the omelette was dry and tasteless , the side of bacon tasted like bacon flavoured cardboard . My wife's wrap was dry , hard and inedible. The waitress approached and asked if all was well and if we were enjoying the meals , I said that we were not happy with the quality and the food was very poor, she said "Ok Thank you " and started to walk away, I called her back and said that I was not happy, I feel that the waitress was simply going through the motions and did not know how to deal with the complaint. The manager came and was all smiles we explained that the food was very poor, he agreed that the food did indeed look poor and thanked us for the constructive feedback . We left most of the food and asked for the bill. When the bill came it was for R239 which was full price . I paid and as we were leaving the manager approached saying once again how he appreciated our feedback .
