After 4 years of giving this restaurant countless chances, I’ve reached a complete deadlock. It is by the worst restaurant with regards to service. The manager and staff are racist and the manager is exceptionally rude and immature. He has repeatedly argued out loud in front of customers with me and others. He has not fixed a single thing in the 4 years I have been to the restaurant. I have witnessed white people walk in straight after me and get treated like royalty. I gave them the benefit of the doubt several times, until I started taking people to the establishment and all of them, unequivocally found the service shocking ( all of them Indian including myself). The established is situated in close proximity of my residence, so it made for a quick visit on numerous days- hence me frequenting it my kid and friends’ kids.
I gathered that after my first few requests for service (as basic as someone to serve me), they identified me and didn’t want to serve me. I stopped going to establishment. After a few months, I decided to try it again since they had revamped the kids play area. The food had improved (old menu and food was very average, new menu – much better), but service was shocking. Yet, we still asked for the chef and commended her.
At my last visit, I ended up having a blow out with the manager in the reception when I asked why no one was serving me. I was told by the child minder that no waiter is available to serve me, yet, from the kids area I saw a waiter pacing outside the front door doing absolutely nothing (not the host). I was not told to wait, nor did I receive an apology, I was told point black that everyone is busy and can’t serve me. The restaurant was very quiet and I was in a hurry, babysitting my friends kids and wanting to treat them. He immediately screamed and yelled like a teenager and spurred me to raise my voice too, which I absolutely hated. It was undoubtedly the most awful experience I have had in a restaurant. I drove to Dopppio Zero at Belair’s Mall, received a warm greeting (a wonderful establishment which we frequent).
My family and I visit restaurants weekly. We love all the staff in each establishment, we tip generously and enjoy the experiences. This establishment has been below the belt in its service and offering, in a way I can’t really explain in words. The manager is rude in ways that are inexplicable and this culture spreads to 90% of staff. All my friends and family refuse to return to this established. I have asked on numerous occasions for the owners number, but the manager refused. I bumped into said manager in local shopping malls and he literally snared at me and asked me why I didn’t write my bad review yet. Can’t for the life of me, understand how he could be employed in...
Read moreMy self and my girlfriend arrived at the restaurant at arround 20:15 on Friday night the 6th of June. No one even acknowledged us as we entered we had to seat our selves at a table. We sat for arround d 5min with no service until a waiter passed us and asked if we had been helped and I said no she brought us menus but after that, we never saw her again. Staff running arround focused on a function upstairs and not the general customer. At one stage the manager walked passed us talking to a waiter and I still said out loud the service is bad he stopped and looked at me and my girlfriend and did nothing to help or attend to us what a disgrace. I have been in the industry for more than 30 years and to be honest if it was my store and I recived a complaint like this from a customer I would take it seriously cause this can destroy your business. I have read other reviews and it looks like the owners actually don't care how thier staff and management treat customers that visit there store. That's why on a Friday night it had only arround 5 tables in the non smoking area, which customer wants to be treated like they don't exist. Then as owners you keep asking why you restaurant turnovers are dropping and not managing to meet your food costs and...
Read moreDespite expectations and rave reviews, I was little enthused by Picanha. Our waiter was average, I can't complain or compliment either way. The bar itself ran out of their own beer - for which I had chosen the venue. Jack Black was also out of stock. Fearing the worst I enquired about alternatives and was provided with a Soweto Gold. Thankfully.
I then embarked upon my culinary adventure by ordering poppers and the venue's namesake - the Picanha skewer. The poppers were the best part of my visit. The steak finally arrived and we received no plates with which to put the slabs of meat from the skewer - dangling over our table. That was easy to remedy but the meat was underwhelming in size and cold to the touch! The manager was kind enough to provide a warm replacement, straight off the grill, and the cut was tender, tasty and up to par.
My opinion of the main course was it was not up to scratch based on the churasco I've had with genuine Brazilians. The overall experience was underwhelming - and the staff seemingly disinterested.
There is little special about Picanha that would single it out as a venue I would rush...
