Read moreI and my family were visiting Johannesburg for 4 days and happened to be put up in an apartment in the same locality. I never heard of this restaurant and just went there because it seemed like a decent Indian restaurant in the vicinity. And boy, were we surprised. The place was sprawling and the arrangements were quite comfortable. Coming to the food, when we looked at the menu, we saw a list of "thalis" on offer. We decided to go for them because thalis usually give the diner a chance to sample multiple dishes at a decent price. The food that arrived was, in my view, spectacular. Crisp rotis, succulent curries with dollops of desi ghee. It was heaven !! After gorging ourselves and still having leftovers because of massive portions, we decided to come again. Each time, our experience was the same - superb. This place is highly recommended. My wife even requested them to open a similar restaurant in Cape Town where the Indian restaurant scene is below par :-(
A shoutout to the wonderful people who waited on us. They were very polite and super-cool with my two hyperactive kids. Much...
Read moreWas indeed a wonderful spread of Indian quisine, very agreeable to our palates. Punjabi's, like us, do love their food spicy and pungent. Tried a mango Lassi for the first time and quite a taste & I do see the need for it after the strong flavors we experienced with the goat, Punjabi lamb, prawn and crab curries. 🥵🥵🥵 Definitely not for the faint hearted, sensitive tummy types. Just one thing...not enough condiments was served to cover our table of 10 adults and 3 children I.e. sambals also had more onions than tomatoes (not evenly distributed) & little or no chillies, disappointingly small pappadums for starters. Other than that, it was pleasant & quick service. Mains tasted great. Oh...the rice was cold. Lurved the butter Naan roti. Thanks Taste of Punjab, Sunninghill, for a wonderful meal , service & ambience (although the lanterns on the table were never lit for dining by candlelight experience. Lol. Supposing it was for load shedding). My mum, aunt and uncle really...
