I tried to make a booking at this place and was initially accepted with a table of 20 people. I specifically asked whether a set menu is required as I'd have quite a few vegetarians, pescatarian and other friends with specific dietary requirements coming. The initial response was that a set menu was not required. 3 days before my booking, I receive a phone call from the manager saying that a set menu is required. When I tried to argue my point about this not being a requirement initially, she responded by saying "I don't want to risk 20 people pitching up ordering jugs of water on a long weekend". After a few phone calls back and forth, she decided to use foul language such as "piss off and f**k off, I don't need your booking". This was the worst treatment I've ever received from a restaurant patron and she even failed to answer my question as to what had changed from when I initially made my booking to when she called me to change the requirements. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that a long-weekend is coming up with a rush of customers expected, hence trying to clear out her bookings. I will never recommend a restaurant that treats random strangers like this to anyone, regardless of the quality of their food. It's time that small businesses also begin to have a social and corporate responsibility when it comes to the way they treat customers and...
Read moreI had an awful and rather bewildering experience at Trabella Illovo last week. The owner Tracey was extremely rude, speaking to us in an aggressive manner, despite us acknowledging that the kitchen was closing soon and we would place our order in minutes.
She borderline shouted at us soon after we sat down. She told me “This is MY shop” before attempting to push me as I was trying to speak to a colleague named Greg about the poor treatment. At least one of her staff said this was her normal behaviour. As a former Melrose North resident who ordered from Trabella before - and liked it - this was utterly disappointing and infuriating. I will not be belittled in this manner as a paying customer - or as just a human being.
My disgust grew when I saw other reviews complaining about the owner's rude approach and brusque demeanour on other occasions.
Clearly she feels empowered to treat people like trash knowing there won't be...
Read moreMy 11 year old son started feeling sick and vomited in the bathroom after we ordered but before our food arrived. When we returned, the manager (a 'manly' white female) suggested it be better if we either left or sat outside because it wouldn't be "good for her customers if my son vomited in the restaurant". Needless to say, I was absolutely disgusted by her pathetic attitude, so I took my sons and left, while my mum and sister remained. I told her to cancel my order but I found out that she insisted that my pensioner mum pay for the pizzas we ordered - even though we didn't eat it because we left before they started making it.
Please be warned that this restaurant is not family friendly. If you have zero empathy for a sick child, you have no business being in the restaurant/hospitality industry. It's not like he was drunk and throwing up - he's just a...
