I recently stayed at a delightful guest lodge that I can’t recommend enough. Nestled within a garden of enormous, old, shady trees, the lodge feels like a peaceful haven. The property features a sparkling blue pool that’s perfectly framed by the dining hall—a beautifully decorated space with fine furnishings that exude elegance and charm.
The rooms are equally stunning. Each one is tucked away in the lush gardens, offering a sense of privacy and quaintness. Inside, they are adorned with luxurious interiors and the finest linens, making your stay feel truly indulgent.
The host and owner, Sue, is the heart of this place. Her warm hospitality is unmatched. Upon arrival, she poured me a glass of wine, and we had a lovely chat—it was like catching up with an old friend. Sue’s care and attention to detail extend to the food, which is absolutely divine. For lunch, we enjoyed roast beef and chicken with perfectly cooked butternut, spinach, and potatoes, followed by homemade apple pie for dessert. The meals are a testament to her passion for creating a memorable experience for her guests.
To top it all off, the prices are incredibly reasonable for the level of luxury, comfort, and personal touch you receive. It’s truly...
Read morechose this place because of the many good reviews but unfortunately ours wasnt a good experience. TV is only SABC & the screen is so unclear. No robes in the closets, standard for a 4 star place. Only found out about the 8am to 9pm water shutdown around 17h30 when l wanted to shower after swimming in the pool. The receptionist stated that they forgot to leave a note in the room informing us. Not sure if they knew of this when we called to book as we would have come another day. Waited for 9pm for water to return but power went out at 20h20 and the generator runs emergency lights only. We slept. Awoke at 8am to take a much needed shower but no hot water...reception called someone to come fix it. We rushed to breakfast as we were told it ends at 9h30 because they are hosting a conference.
The staff are however very friendly & helpful and Francina sincerely apologised for the mishaps. It's a comfy, homely lodge with beautiful greenery and you don't feel like you're in Joburg. However even if there was water & lights, the place is...
Read moreEverything is just perfect ! People are very nice, smiling, friendly. They make you feel confortable. If you have any question about the neighborhood how to get there what to do, where to eat, etc. They will help you and find something to do. We had really nice time and I had a really nice time with Lerota (I hope I'm spelling that well) talking about her country, her life. It was really nice and interesting. We will definitely come back here (we didn't plan on our holiday to come back here but because of the experience and people that we meet we will change our plan).
So for who's who want to have more details about the room : very nice, and big room, very clean!!! bathroom with a shower and a bath. Very nice environment with a lot of plant. You're feeling alone here and in the middle of the forest. There is of course the wifi and the connection is good.
For conclusion, let's just say I will recommend the place !
Thanks to Sue, lerotha, Diane, and all the staff that we met from Melrose! We made our...
