I've been a devoted patron of Shayona for years, and I couldn't be happier since they opened a branch in Illovo, which is now conveniently close to my family and me. This establishment has truly become a second home for us.

The exceptional service provided by the staff (waiters/waitresses, baristas, pizza chefs, chefs and managers), led by the wonderful managers William and Gerald, is what sets Shayona apart. They go above and beyond to make you feel like family from the moment you step through the door. Absolutely loved the toasted cheese sandwiches and sweetmeats! I went back because of the good service and food and bought again this week whilst in the area. I purchased some sweet meats, along with a vegan brownie and it was utterly disappointing because it was so stale. The brownie actually tasted like old cardboard and all the sweetmeats were terribly stale. I bought a box as a gift for someone else as well and it was so embarrassing to taste how stale it was. The owner then tells me to go back and get a fresh box .. went back only to be told by the manager, if you want another box I must say, all the items are from the same batch. I was then given gulab jamun and Raas gulab to compensate for the sweetmeats and because it looked fresh. After 3x days of being refrigerated the Raas gulaab syrup, turned in a thick rotten paste! A friend raved about the food so we decided to travel almost an hour and a half to get there. Restaurant was busy so was excited expecting the food and service to be great. To my dismay the waitress took our order and said that food will arrive in 15 to 20 minutes but it took more than half hour before single items started to trickle to the table, and the wait was so long before all items arrived. Main course was even worse as one of the three mains arrived and by the time my family received theirs, we were quite disappointed. Was excited to order faloodas, which also never arrived at the table. Had to flag the staff to remove the excess used dishes from the table. A place that busy needs more staff as the overworked servers were trying their best while there were a few people just watching the chaos and yet chose to manage and not keep their customers serviced.
