Turn ʼn Tender Steakhouse — Restaurant in Gauteng

DO NOT GO THERE

Went there for a lunch (despite being warned from multiple people not to go). I was in the mood for a steak and ordered two rump steaks for us, I asked to be server Medium.

The food first of all took quite a long time to come and once I received the steak, I realised why. They completely scorched my steak. I took my first bite and I thought it's piece of gum, I chewed and chewed and chewed. Dry, bland, horrible.

I took a second bite closer to the middle to see if it was maybe more rare in the middle... but no, still the same. I had no time to wait for a new steak so I just ate my salad and told the waiter about it (who agreed they messed up the steak).

They still made me pay for the steak. One steak did not even have a bite out of it, only cut open to see. Manager never came or did anything and the waiter just said he doesn't know what was wrong with the manager.

Turn 'n Tender, if you're reading this and feel like you want to welcome me back, to give me a complimentary meal to make up for this awful managing and quality... Please don't.

I won't return, even if the meal is free. Quality and service (from management and kitchen) is horrible. Our waiter was polite and helpful and checked in regurarly.

Anybody wondering if they should come to Turn 'N Tender, the answer is no. Rather go to Doppio Zero for really great quality steak and...

Okay, it was 'nice'; but then Castle lager tastes the same everywhere, no? As do lemon butter calamari tubes, so really, nothing special. Moreover, when you have to call your waiter twíce, and he brings the focacia that was supposed to be shared with the first glass of wine ('cos that's our way of doing family Communion,) only after the main meals gave arrived, and you still have to send it back because someone ignored the 'no garlic' spec, which means that someone has to take it home for breakfast or the dog, then never mind 'nice,' that's when I think that any old drive through takeaway would have us fine instead. 'Not sure about the unclad concrete floor. The not-so drive through takeaway clientele that visit this one desérve at least cheap theatre quality carpet tiles, which would bump the place up a definite notch... but then maybe they don't wánt to appear to be "up market." Maybe that's also why you get nice linen serviettes, but no linen table cloths? All round, they could...

This will be my first positive review, I typically only voice a review when I am unhappy.

I ordered 3 portions of Lamb chops and mash from Turn and Tender Boksburg via Mr Delivery. After dishing up the food the lamb smelled off, to be honest it smelled like a can of dog food (those really cheap ones)

Feeling a tad irritated I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. I explained the situation and was told that I need to bring the food back so that they may exchange it. I must be honest being 21h00 at night and having to go there after paying for a delivery was a bit disappointing, but as I arrived the manager showed me to a table, offered me something to drink on the house, and we had a nice chat while waiting for the food to be prepared.

All things considered it could have been (and I expected it to be) much worse but kodos to them, its nice to know that customer service and experience does...
