Fishaways Cradlestone Mall — Restaurant in Mogale City Local Municipality

Sushi is a treat and I decided to grab some on Tuesday 3 June 2025 to spoil a friend and myself. I ordered Salmon Roses, Maki, California rolls and Fashion Sandwiches. Jack took my order and I popped out for a bit hoping it would be ready within 20min or so, but when returning there was no-one at the till and no order was ready.

I looked into the kitchen and the 2 ladies, Jack and a Steers lady were merrily chatting away as if they had no work to do. I sat with patience but got irritated after another 20 minutes or so went by.

Waiting for over an hour for a small treat was, in my opinion, not ok. I got thirsty and had to call into the kitchen for attention to buy a juice from the fridge. I waited even longer after that... There were no orders in front of mine - which actually upset my friend and I - as we chose "fast food" instead of a sit-down in order to save time.

When the 2 small plates finally arrived, I had to ask for the wasabi and then commented to Jack that he should always serve that straight away upon bringing the order out.

We then tucked in only to find the rice was old and tasteless and the Salmon Roses were made with FROZEN salmon. This was the worst "sushi" I have ever tasted!

I felt robbed from the money spent on a very disappointing "treat".

I then read more disappointing reviews and do not recommend Fishaways at Cradlestone Mall to anyone. The concept of having the 3 take away outlets was quite clever - but the service, waiting time and quality...

We have been to this Fishaways before and had reasonable service. However this Friday evening at approximately 7pm, we placed an order for a large hake and chips, a sharing meal of 2 hake, chips, onion rings & coleslaw, and 5 fish poppers. The customer service lady did not have the courtesy to inform us that the wait would be very long. We only realized after we sat down to wait for our food, that the wait time was almost 30 minutes, even though it really wasn't very busy (not many orders ahead of us). A packet, which we later found out was ours, stood on the rack (supposedly a warming rack) for at least 10 minutes before they gave us our order. The reason it was on the rack that long was that our order was short of 1 item. When we got home, we discovered that the coleslaw was missing. From where we sat, we could see that there was a lot of confusion in the kitchen. Bottom line, we won't be going to this Fishaways ever again. The expectation we have, from past experience, was of fast food that is freshly prepared. What we received was a very long wait, terrible service and food that had been kept warm for more than 10 minutes. R314.70 is far too much to pay for terrible service and warmed food....

This is NOT the first time experiencing below par service here. The lady in front(on the 21/02/2025) has ZERO customer etiquette, they took well over 20minutes to give my order, no sense of “apologies for the delay” then the order itself was an OUTRIGHT DISREGARD of Fishaways standards. The fish was crunchy as hell with nothing inside, i guess over fried? I had to drive back to the place to give it back. The manager also, with no sense of apologies on that regard wanted to dispute my dissatisfaction but managed to get my money back. Not...
