I'm on the fence with this Spur...my local Spur. I'll always support local first but after three visits I'm ready to drive further to enjoy the type of meal that I have come to expect from the Spur brand.
The steaks are not at all the 200g or 300g weight as advertised on the menu. Consumers are all aware of the rise in the cost of food and eating out at a family restaurant like Spur is indeed a treat. So, when we foot the bill of R1400.00 for a family of five, we really do expect at the least a decently portioned steak. 200g steak arrives. Sauce off and scale out...proven to be a disappointing 112g. Not cool Chef. Give me what I pay for please. Mingy on the fries. Enjoyment of a nibbly crumbed mushroom starter is now a thing of the past as pricing dictates this is no longer reasonable at well over R100.00.
The service - mid rating here - as there is nothing more annoying than having your own waiter, another waiter as well as the shift manager all dropping in on turn to ask if everything is okay at the precise moment you've placed a bite of the measly sized steak into your mouth, forcing you to chew and swallow as quickly as possible to answer the question. Allow patrons to enjoy the meal please.
On observing the dining, most guests were couples. Not the typical families gathering for dinner as one could expect to see. This speaks to rising costs. Expect to part with an average R250.00 per person for a main meal and one or maybe two non-alcoholic beverages. No starter and no dessert.
When this Spur opened it's new store at the opposite end of the mall, it was lovely...all round. Things are changing, not for the...
Read moreIt is Friday afternoon the 16th of May. For the first time back after our previous visit and review.
The service and food are quick, friendly, correct, warm and delicious! It is a 1000 times improvement! Well done Joe and team. Previous bad experience wiped out.

We visit Missouri Spur in Kdp weekly while we wait for kids to finish with their arts classes.
Friday the 25th of April my daughter with 5 kids and I went to the Spur around 12h30 for sandwiches for the little ones. After an hour of waiting for the food, we complained to the manager. The small children were crying because they were hungry and tired.
We eventually received the sandwiches which were ice cold. I complained to the manager, again and the only response I got, was " so sorry". Nobody tried to rectify the situation. No matter how much I complained!
We left the Spur highly unhappy, with upset kids who did not want to eat the cold sandwiches, and again all response I got from both the waiter (who never came to check on us while we waited) and the manager was " so sorry".
I told them that our experience were unacceptable, but they did not seem bothered. The manager tried to calm the situation by giving the kids lucky packets. But lucky packets with a "so sorry" did not do it for me. An hour and a half waisted for 5 sandwiches!
I am rethinking going to the Spur ever again having something to eat and drink while we wait for the art's kids to finish their classes.

We place our order the waitress was very slow in bringing the drinks then the crème soda we ordered had no gas so we asked how is this possible, we were told they pouring from a 2 lt bottle😳 so there soda fountain is not working but they pour out a 2lt and still want to charge the ppl the same price😡 the food was average. Oh and the kids wanted to go play but were told the lady will be there at 9 at this point it was 9:04 then again told no at 10. Really it’s a so called family restaurant and the holidays. Why do you not have things in order and in place. They did remove the crème soda and only charged for the can which we were ok with. Why did we have to go through so much BS I will never understand!!!!!! Get your staff sorted and trained you are a franchise after all! I was not at all...
