Oskars Bakery — Restaurant in Overstrand Local Municipality

I recently had an unfortunate experience at Oskars in Hermanus. I had my laptop with me, hoping to enjoy a coffee and breakfast while working, which I usually do during my business trips to the area.

However, I was disappointed to find out that laptops are not allowed on the premises. The way this policy was enforced left me feeling unwelcome and frustrated. It felt like a draconian approach, leaving me with no choice but to leave.

As someone who frequents Hermanus for business and leisure, I had planned to spend some time at Oskars during my visits. The no laptop policy, while understandable to some extent, seems to deter potential customers like me who value both good food and a conducive environment to work.

It would be great if Oskars could reconsider their approach to this policy. Perhaps setting a spend or time limit for laptop usage could strike a balance between accommodating various customers' needs and ensuring a pleasant dining experience.

Unfortunately, due to this experience, I won't be considering Oskars for any of my future trips, and my family will also be exploring alternative options.

I hope that this feedback encourages Oskars to reflect on their policies and possibly make adjustments that could positively impact their customers'...

After seeing the owners reply, I have downgraded to 1 star. I will never waste return to this place based on this trashy response.

Here was my original review: I personally found the whole experience lacking and the food was the same.

Firstly there are signs up everywhere that you must order at the table and NO LAPTOPS ALLOWED. So obviously this place is more concerned about running a business that is about themselves and not the customers.

The staff just lacked enthusiasm and seem somber. I asked for a recommendation for lunch and got recommended a breakfast croissant. I saw a lady spill her drink as the fizz overflowed when she put a straw in the bottle and no one cleaned this up or came and offered her serviettes.

My breakfast croissant was fresh and toasted with well made scrambled eggs but then no sauce or something to make this a restaurant meal. The salmon was under the eggs and basically just got cooked from the heat. I didn’t finish my smoothie or my coffee both were terrible. The raw smoothie tasted like watered down ready made cocktail. The black Americano lacked flavor and was weak.

Delicious breakfast bagels, pastries, cakes, quiches, and breads. I highly recommend.

Many breakfast cafes don't open later than we usually eat breakfast. Oskar's is always open on time and the service is excellent and friendly. The staff is quick to grab a baby seat for my 10 month old son. The food is delicious and served fresh in a matter of minutes. Oskar's has become our go-to spot for breakfast.

I usually order the breakfast bagel (bacon, egg, cheese, on fresh-baked bagel). Everything I have ordered at Oskar's has been delicious though. I appreciate the added microgreens for a nutrition boost with breakfast. My wife recommends the cappuccino. The pasteis de nata are the best I have had anywhere and the mini breakfast quiches are my mom's favourite.
