Boy oh Boy ! Let me start

I went to Parrots yesterday after not being there in a year or two. I was looking forward to going there after a meeting i had and I tell you I got there very hungry and excited to experience the same level of hospitality and service I am used to.

So I walked in and a blonde girl was very eager to assist me so i thought , she took me upstairs and I informed her I dont smoke and wanted to sit in a quiet corner where I wont be in anyones pictures. She suggested I am more than welcome to choose my table, as we started making our way downstairs I turned around to see she was not following me with the same enthusiasm and she was on her phone. FINE.

I went downstairs to the tables literally in front of the entrance where all the waiters were seated, I sat there and waited, and waited and waited. All the while with a massive appetite (still I was eager and happy ). Then the more the staff were busy standing around and some man in a orange shirt with a big belly was congregating with them my agitation rose. I then had someone after sitting for maybe 5 or more minutes come over because I was highly annoyed and by this time I expressed my dissatisfaction as a customer. He then asked what I would like to which I ordered a Pina Colada because wow ! My appetite had slowly dwindled by now. Then the drink came and I swear to God as I was sitting there he came to tell me he left his card at home and he wants to go home so can I pay. I literally had not even finished my drink, now by this time my irritation was at an all time peak.

Is it acceptable for a customer to seat themselves, not be taken care of, sit for more than 5-7 minutes without anyone even offering them a menu or anything for Gods sake ? Is it acceptable for a server to literally demand a customer pays now now fast claiming he is leaving now now for them to only proceed to stand at the door with the manager and the rest of the group busy yapping about God knows. I had decided I will not bother eating there and left very upset and very disappointed, upon leaving a young man at the door when I asked him the managers name told me it is Ndumiso to which he asked me is there a problem and I expressed my concerns to which this young man began antagonizing me .

I have never in my life been treated so poorly at an establishment and the fact after my initial dissatisfaction and further dissatisfaction the man who antagonized me had the audacity to tell me about sections , to which I responded : I work in hospitality you don't tell me about restaurant operations when I know all about them. He further went on to say he did not see me when I sat right in front of all of them when they had their gossip sessions with their unprofessional manager who kept looking at me repeatedly but made no effort to find out regarding my experience. This is what sent me into a further rage hence this review. Absolutely despicable to ignore a customer because they are alone and then claim you didn`t see them.

The staff is unprofessional and I swear if the way they behave and even their manager. They will run Parrots to the ground, it is unacceptable to treat a customer like that, I used to go a lot when I lived in the West and I must say their quality of service has dwindled over the years.

Highly disappointed, they spoiled my mood...

Introduction

The restaurant has a warm setting, it's inviting and very vibrant for any age group.

We have tried most of the items on the menu, the food is absolutely delicious. Some favorites are : toasted sandwiches which you can have with your bread type and vegetable chips, the nachos are absolutely fantastic as well as the pizzas.

I've seen this restaurant before in Menlyn Mall and it was always busy, I thought it was worth giving this restaurant a chance and now it's become the norm.

Ambiance & Atmosphere

Decor & Design: The design of the restaurant is exciting, new and warm. You feel comfortable within the setting.

Music & Noise Level: We have had music playing at this restaurant and no music playing, however when it's playing it's a truly great selection of music ranging from the 80s to some modern hits.

Seating & Layout: The seating arrangements are spacious, you can sit upstairs, downstairs and outside all with different configurations.

Service

Staff Friendliness & Professionalism: The staff are absolutely amazing! Staff are kind, fast and efficient.

Efficiency: We were seated within 30 seconds, we received our food within 20 minutes of ordering.

Knowledge: Staff are knowledgeable and can recommend some amazing dishes.

Food & Beverage Dish Name: Chicken Mayo Sandwich, cajen chicken, Mozerella and pepajew sandwich on this occation.

Description: the taste was absolutely delicious, ive had chicken mayo and other dishes similar at other restaurants none of which taste this good.

Portion Size & Presentation: This is a huge plus, the portion is big however just right.

Value for Money: This is absolutely worth your money, it depends on the varient between R80 to R95.

The drinks we had was absolutely delicious, it was a strawberry health drink.

The service and quality of food gets worse every time we go.

The first appalling behaviour was when we ordered food on a Friday night at approximately 8:30 and it was brought to us in a takeaway box (which we never asked for). Talk about chasing your customers away when we were ready to spend a whole lot more on drinks.

Then yesterday we go there at about 2PM. We get told that the iced smoothies no longer exist (fair but that was a favourite). We only sit for 3 minutes then get harassed to immediately order food. We politely decline and say we have to look at the menu for a bit longer and that the waiter should give us 10 minutes. Literally 2 minutes after that we get asked again. Again we need more time. A minute after we get asked for the 3rd time and we just order. I ordered prawns and calamari with lemon butter. What do I get? Old prawns and 5 pieces of calamari in peri-peri sauce with a mountain of bland, cold, rice. My boyfriend ordered a bacon cheese burger and he received a plain cheese burger, that looked like somebody chewed it already. The ingredients were tossed over the plate and the bottom bun was the soggiest excuse for a piece of bread I have ever seen. We wanted to talk to the waiter but he would not stay at our table long enough for us to get a word out. He was so rude and quite intimidating.

Honestly. The only good thing about this place is the smoking section.
