Rock Cod Country Restaurant is a little bit of countryside in the city. There are three dining areas: The more formal, beautifully decorated indoor dining area. The less formal porch (with a few private porch areas for larger groups). The patio area under umbrellas and trees over looking the garden where the children's play area is. (Ducks. roosters and chickens add to the atmosphere as they roam freely around the garden and the patio area). The waitron staff attending our table were attentive, very personable and knowledgeable regarding the food and portion sizes. We ordered 3 different dishes - Stuffed Trout, Norwegian Salmon and the Sunday Lunch. Our food was simply delicious, and beautifully presented. (The Sunday Lunch was a set 3 course meal. A starter, mains and dessert.) Wine list isn't extensive, however cover a good range, with wine that would pair with all their dishes. Rock Cod Country Restaurant is possibly a bit more expensive than some restaurants, but well worth it. (Mains priced from around R150 up.) Rock Cod Country Restaurant is well suited to families, couples, solo dining and groups. Weekends can be quite busy, so advisable to make reservations. We would certainly go there again. There is also a lovely little plant...
Read moreThe rudest, most disrespectful and arrogant owner we have ever had to deal with. My husband went to Rock Cod in person to book a specific table for a small baby shower, all was arranged and booked. Upon arrival of the day of the baby shower we were given a different table. My husband requested to speak to the owner with whom he arranged a specific table. The owner only bothered to show up after we had our meals at the table that we did not request. Apparently the owner thought that he could cancel the table my husband booked because the amount of people were not to his liking. No one called to discuss this. It was done without any notification or explanation. When my husband showed that he was frustated and rightfully so, the owner told my husband that he had a bad attitude. What followed was an owner of a restaurant trying to provoke my husband to violence. He even asked my husband if he would like to take the argument to the back of the restaurant. From the behaviour of this owner I would suggest he possibly change his profession to Street Fighting, someone like him should NOT be in the hospitality industry. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We will not return to this place, even if it were the last...
Read moreThere was no soap in the ladies bathroom and we are currently in the midst of a viral pandemic.
Other patrons were left to smoke at table in close proximity to our table while we were eating.
The spesific pizza I ordered was disappointing. My friend also ordered a pizza which was considerably better than mine so some serious inconsistencies in the food standards. Something to be aware of when ordering.
When dissatisfaction was expressed to the owner manager about a prior in person booking being changed (without them being courteous and informing us ahead of time), the owner became argumentative and aggressive just because we expressed our concerns and dissatisfaction directly to him... So, be prepared for that because it could change the festive family mood in which you came to enjoy yourself.
I have read through some of the other reviews and based on what is seen there, it would appear a somewhat common occurance for the owner / manager to be argumentative. It seems like he has total disregard for the fact that he negatively impacts an entire table of people who have actually come to the establishment to enjoy themselves. Surrounding...
