I recently had the pleasure of visiting Franschhoek Cellar during a wine tour organized by TripAdvisor. Located just outside of Cape Town, this beautiful winery exceeded my expectations in every way.
Our tour guides, Charles and Friday, were exceptional hosts throughout the visit. They provided us with a comprehensive tour of the winery, sharing their knowledge and passion for winemaking. Despite being slightly inebriated from the previous stops on the tour, their enthusiasm and expertise made the experience even more enjoyable.
The aesthetics of Franschhoek Cellar were simply breathtaking. The picturesque surroundings provided numerous photo opportunities, making it a paradise for photography enthusiasts. It truly felt like stepping into a postcard-worthy scene.
During the tour, we were treated to a quartet of wines, consisting of two white and two red varieties. Each wine was meticulously crafted, showcasing the winery's dedication to producing exceptional vintages. The flavors were exquisite, leaving a lasting impression on my palate.
For lunch, we indulged in a delicious meal of fish and cheeseburgers. The service was attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, further enhancing the overall ambiance of the winery.
The wine purchasing process was seamless, thanks to the helpful staff who guided us through the selection. I left Franschhoek Cellar with a few bottles of their exquisite wines, eager to relive the memories of this remarkable visit.
In conclusion, Franschhoek Cellar is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts and anyone seeking a memorable experience. From the stunning aesthetics to the exceptional wines and friendly service, every aspect of our visit exceeded expectations. I highly recommend adding this winery to your itinerary when exploring the...
Read moreToday, my family and I went to visit this establishment, as we spent a few days in Franschhoek, and this was one of the places recommended, with a play place for kids.
We went and were told the restaurant was close, as there was a wedding today and we could have wime tasting only.
My wife wanted to try the wine tasting, while the kids played. One of the waiters told us we could sit in the area, where the wine tasting was, at table 30,if can recall, as it was closest to view kids playing in play area. It was a bit warm inside, so we went to move, just opposite, to the tables outside, then were told that we cant sit there, its reserved for the wedding guests, but no obvious reservation signs nor reserved anywhere, while other guests sat there as well. We then moved back inside, to same table, I went to two ladies, clearing up a table, nearest to the wine tasting area, and asked that we be served, she said where we were sitting they do not do the wine tasting there, but its in the same area, I advised her, the previous waiter guy ,said we could sit and he would attend and she continued to say they dont do till there and if he wants to do it, its on him.
What bad service, no apologetic manner of speaking, no we will make a plan, as the wedding taking up seats outside, where, clearly wine tasting was offered.
We left this sad establishment and will never be back, nor recommend it to our friends or anyone we know.
Attitude truly sucked and is rather sad, as we have had good experiences at the other restaurants we spent time at on our stay.
Your establishment put a damper on our...
Read moreWe stopped at Franschhoek Cellar as part of the Franschhoek Wine Tram (reviewed separately) yellow route, however they are located next to the main road, so it is very easy to give them a visit. We visited for a wine tasting and thereafter lunch, and as we were a very large group, we all sat at one long table in the tasting room area. The tasting room isn't very big, but is nicely decorated and it has a big window that overlooks the beautiful Franschhoek mountains. They have a couple of tastings for you to choose from, including some pairing options. We ended up doing their standard tasting, which we really enjoyed, and as their wines are well-priced you are guaranteed to find something you like. For lunch, my wife and I decided to share a portion of nachos which was tasty and enough for the two of us. Something that was a bit of a hit-and-miss for me was their service. Although the lady was friendly and knowledgeable, our group was too big for just one person to handle, so she struggled on her own and someone should have come to help her. This also had an effect on how attentive she was. For those with young kids it is good to note that outside there is a covered play area for the kids - it isn't within view from the main restaurant interior or tasting area, however there are people that look after the kids while they play, though maybe good to go check in occasionally. Overall, we still had a good time and will...
