We have just had a very disappointing meal at the Wine Glass Stellenbosch . We were looking forward visiting a restaurant with such a huge selection of wines. As the service was a little slow to start with we ordered 4 different glasses of wine and our food at the same time, our waitress was very sweet . We had waited a long time for our drinks to arrive and mentioned it to a few different staff who were all full of smiles and said they were on to it but nothing arrived . Our starters arrived but still no wine , we asked again and then about 5 mins later 2 glasses finally arrived . The wine was very good . We finished our starter and the first 2 glasses . The main courses arrived immediately after they took the starters away but no more wine and no cutlery . I then had to ask for some cutlery which arrived 2 minutes later and asked about the other 2 glasses of wine which arrived another 3-4 minutes later. Meanwhile the couples either side of us both seemed to be experiencing different problems with their service. The fish curry and salmon we ordered were at best acceptable but both really quite bland . I did speak to the manager about our disappointing meal , it felt like it was falling on deaf ears so consequently I’m writing here. Interestingly the couple next to us said they had come to this restaurant as they had been staying in Hermanus and had had many good meals in the sister restaurant and were also a little disappointed. Maybe we have just had a meal on a bad evening , but from our snapshot the staff need much better training and better management, as for the quality of the food that’s...

Highly recommended if you love having your food and drink covered with flies.. An arrogant manager in denial is the cherry on the top of a bad experience. Complained, and two candles were lit on the table, which had no effect. Had to compete with flies to eat. A major hygiene concern. The response from the staff was apolpgetic and that they know they have a problem with flies. Duck starter was terrible, way too salty. Steak dish was mediocre at best. Over priced, over rated. Rather go to Turn n Tender, they know how to cook steaks. We were refunded the salty duck starter. Manager denied there was a problem with flies, we informed him that his waiter confirmed there was a fly problem, and pointed out the flies all over the eating utensils. He was very upset and wanted to know which staff member had said there was a problem with flies. He admitted there are no measures in place to control the problem with flies. Bad...

We went on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy our last tasting before heading back to the city. We walked into an empty restaurant with one or 2 tables seated outside and were welcomed by young lovely lady, who sat us down and gave us the menus. She was the only person on the floor. It took more than 20min for our drinks to be served. When our drinks finally arrived my partners dom pedro so small, a similar size used to measure a wine taster. The Dom pedro the texture of the drink was like ice cream that had melted before and frozen again. We told one of the waiters who had recently started her shift, she then went to the bar to get us a bit more, but we were told that is the actual size. My partner also went to the ladies bathroom… filthy. The manager on duty was not bothered by our complaint, just pointed at waiters to go to our tables. This place left such a bitter taste in our mouth after an amazing day...

From the outside this restaurant seems to be small however do a reservation and be surprised when seated on the inside. The restaurant also houses two private dining rooms seating up to 10 people and a good selection of Cape wines. Parking is not a big issue with ample car guards around if that makes you feel better. Done a reservation for two for 8PM and the restaurant was still busy with people laughing and the smell of food being prepared. We had Beef Ragu and Aubergine Rollatini, the food presentation and taste was great and excellent service from Elke the waitress which was very firmiluar with the menu and wines. The menu does not have an overwhelming amount of options, but still has a nice variety of dishes from pastas, meat, fish and desserts. Pricing is very competitive. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm, homey and welcoming. I will defiantly be returning.

Had dinner here… it was absolutely delicious. Blown away by the authentic patatas bravas - one could close one’s eyes and not be faulted for thinking one is in Madrid. (Unlike the potato wedges sold at la parade and given a Spanish brand name) accompanied with the mist perfect paprika sauce and mayonnaise dip….. then the zucchini fritters were the perfection union between crispy and tender held together with a hint of rosemary and an aioli sauce for dipping. The fillet melted in the mouth like butter. And then the Gin cocktails were just the cherry on all of it. If I could give more stars I would.

The wine was great, the variety is also great, the food on the other hand is definitely not something to be celebrated, I had a Seafood curry which is one of the pricier options on the menu and to be honest it was extremely watery and lacked any flavour at all. It seemed to be something that was rushed and all I can say is that you don’t come here for the food. And if the wine is the only draw in for the space then the price of the food shouldn’t compete with the prices of the more high end wines specifically because of the lack of flavour. Most of our guests at our table had similar complaints.
