A beautiful, tranquil spot with an amazing large garden space. Extremely lovely staff and wonderful food.
So the birria tacos I had here.
It's one of the most refreshing plates of food I've had in Cape Town.
They made an excellent plate of food. There were no corners cut or cheap gimmics like some more high end restaurants in town.
The tortillas are made in house, the broth cuts no corners and appears to use the correct chillies & pastes while not being too aggressive with the heat.
The meat was exceptionally done, slow roasted but then still fried with some crispy bits, the whole taco is toasted to lock all the ingredients in and at the same time toast the tacos into the expect shape, getting extra crispy meat & cheese pieces at the edges.
Honestly shocked at how well this was executed to the point I'm writing this taco flavored love letter.
To actually bother to do recipes like this properly is a rare blessing. I am so happy this...
Read moreIt was once really our most favorite place with our kids in the town center and we had been there so many times since 2016, but now we could not come back (we tried it several times) because of the significantly increased number of big dogs which are running unleashed over the playground, even on quiet mornings during the week, when particular little kids are coming. Dog feces on the lawn. Our little son is fearing the bigger dogs (in his size or bigger), in particular when they come closer than 1 m, maybe because of his disorder. We asked some owners to keep their dogs in distance to him, most times without success and reactions. The café was a safe and relaxing place for us, with a fence surrounding the play park, but now it's rather a dog spout area, also supported by the café. We're have experienced similar behavior in other big cities like Berlin, obviously a...
Read moreWe always avoided Deer Park Café because it's overrun with kids. I completely understand, it's a super kid-friendly place. But we discovered Friday nights are when the littlies stay in, so that's when we ventured out for a meal.
For an omnivorous establishment, Deep Park Café is super clued up and accommodating when it comes to their vegan clientele. We have yet to make it to one of their vegan buffet nights, but it's on the bucket list for sure!
We had pizza with cashew nut cheese, which they only charge R6 extra for! What even!? That is so cheap! Also, it is far and away the best pizza we've ever had. After some deliberation, we decided it's a combination of the base (light and fluffy) and love (lots of it).
Their tomato lentil soup is also super delicious and very hearty. It's easily a meal on its own. Sorry for the not so...
