Bel Piatto Al’mare is a true gem in Kalk Bay! From the moment we walked in, we were swept away by the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the stunning ocean views. It’s the perfect blend of relaxed coastal charm and top-class dining.
The seafood here is simply outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every dish we tried was a masterpiece. Their presentation is elegant yet unpretentious, letting the quality of the food shine through.
The service deserves special mention: attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about making sure guests have an amazing experience. You can feel the pride they have in what they do.
Bel Piatto Al’mare is not just a restaurant; it’s a place where every meal feels like a celebration of the sea. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Cape Town, this spot is a must-visit. We’re already planning our next trip back!

Read moreVery friendly staff greeted us as we arrived but quite slow service. I felt it was extremely expensive for what we got the eggs benedict with hollinaise and salmon was tiny and the croissant with scrambled egg and bacon (described as a a hearty meal) was just as small, the croissant (looked like the woolies/checkers home heat ones) was dried out and crispy due to overheating DEFINITELY did not look or taste fresh bakery made , although the manager did take our commnets and go check with the kitchen and said they used the wrong baking tray? Over all, 4 cappuchino and 2 small breakfast portions around R430 with tip. Some interesting items on main menu but very pricey cheapest wines looked like R340 , half Portuguese chicken R260(wow!!) but some more reasonable vegetarian option- We may give them another try but can't say in a hurry at the price points ,Just too many other options in vicinity. Ps a really quaint location, setting and decor, so give it a try and...
Read moreThis is an exquisite venue in Kalk Bay. We had lunch here on 24 August 2025. We were a table of 3 and the consensus at the table was extremely positive. The restaurant has been open for three months and the cuisine is a mix of Italian and Portuguese, a reflection of the proprietor, Taibi's, Portuguese/Italian heritage. The food is excellent. We shared the Pomodoro Risotto as a starter. Superb dish. My wife a the Crab meat Pasta, and our guest had the pepper fillet with a delicious potato bake. Both were very happy with their choices. I had the Black Risotto with Prawns. The prawns were divine, but the Risotto tasted a little like the stock had over reduced. It was still a very tasty dish. The service is excellent and waiter Eddy and Manager, Papy were very attentive. Taibi is a gracious host who made a point of getting to know his patrons. This restaurant is well worth a visit and I see it becoming a popular eating spot in Kalk Bay. We will...
