We had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
We originally made a booking for 10 people, but the next day I called to confirm and update the booking to 13—since I’ve had issues with Tiger’s Malt reservations before. As last year my friend booked but when we got there the reservation was "gone".The woman I spoke to said she had made the changes and everything was sorted, she was extremely kind. When we arrived on Saturday, we sat down thinking everything was fine. Our waiter confirmed it was okay, and for a moment, it felt like it would be a good night. We've all been the restaurant so many times but we've never had such a bad experience.
Then things went downhill—fast.
Out of nowhere, a woman who seemed to be a manager or supervisor kept taking our chairs away without saying a word. We’d get them back, and she’d come back and remove them again. When I asked what the issue was, she was extremely rude and spoke to me in such a disrespectful and aggressive way—accusing me of lying about the reservation. Even when other people backed me up, she continued shouting at me like I had done something wrong. And threatened to kick us out the restaurant. Imagine if you booked 13 chairs but it kept on getting taken away. At the end she ended up giving them to us but she definitely wasn't happy. She was extremely mean to me, I was genuinely on the verge of tears. It genuinely ruined everyone's night and experience
I honestly think it was because we were a group of teenagers. I can’t imagine her speaking to an adult group the same way. She had a serious attitude problem and absolutely no sense of professionalism I'm 16, and no adult should speak to someone my age (or anyone, really) in that way.
To make things worse, the food wasn’t good either One of my friends ordered a burger, and it was completely raw inside. Most of the meals took ages and came out . We were so uncomfortable
The only good part of the night was our actual waiter—he was friendly and respectful, and it’s a shame the rest of the experience didn’t match his energy. The other waiters that dis help us were extremely kind it was just her.
Tiger’s Milk Claremont treats teenage guests like second-class customers. We were talked down to, made to feel unwelcome, and disrespected for no reason. I will never go back to this location and I wouldn’t recommend it to any young people looking for a place to celebrate or hang out.
I such a shame because I previously gave this restaurant a good review a...
Read moreTigers Milk Claremont is an amazing spot to grab a bite to eat! They have a fantastic selection of tasty food and drinks, including some seriously mouthwatering burgers. I highly recommend the Triple Bypass Burger - it was juicy and delicious! I paired it with a coffee milkshake that was equally as delicious. I also ordered a latte, which brought my total to £12.50 (R250) including a voluntary tip.
The staff at Tigers Milk were friendly, although I didn't catch the waitress's name as she didn't mention it (as far as I can recall). The atmosphere was lively and had a rustic feel to it. There's WiFi available, although I didn't get a chance to test it out. That said, I'm not sure if Tigers Milk is the best spot for remote workers, though.
One thing to note is that Tigers Milk can be a bit pricey compared to some other restaurants in the city. If you're on a budget, you might want to check out Four & Twenty in Wynberg - they have a great selection of sustainably sourced foods at slightly more affordable prices. That said, Four & Twenty doesn't offer the same variety of delicious burgers and shakes that Tigers Milk does.
Despite this, Tigers Milk is a popular chain with several branches throughout the city, so they must be doing something right! If you're willing to splurge a little bit on a delicious meal, I highly recommend giving Tigers Milk a try.
It would be great if they could offer some more affordable options for those on a budget. Perhaps they could consider offering a value meal or a daily special with a lower price point.
Another way they could improve pricing is by offering discounts for students or for those who dine in during off-peak hours. This could help attract a larger customer base and make Tigers Milk more accessible to those who might otherwise be unable...
Read moreFirst and last time at Tiger's Milk Claremont. Been to Century City and Muizenberg, but never received such bad service and up keeping.
When we arrived, there was no one to greet at the door, but you must wait there in the rain to be served. We booked a table but no booking was made and we were told to sit wherever we see a seat.
The waitress brought beverages menu, which was dirty and still had the previous patrons food on it, on top of that, the table was so sticky that we had to peel the menu off and use a dozens of wet wipes to clean it.
The waitress left and we had to go look for them again to get service, they asked what we would like to drink and if we ready to order food, did they then only realize they gave no food menus. So of course we had to wait a while again for the food menus and again to order.
Tacos were amazing, burgers were under cooked and gyros were tasteless.
Please note, it was not full at all, there were many open tables and we were there for about two and a half hours and the waitress only came to us twice, we had to keep asking for them.
After all this we decided we had enough and rather went to get dessert somewhere else. We again had to ask around for our waitress to get the bill, and then of course had to wait awhile again for the card machine. To add to this, they forgot to add items we order on the bill and had to go redo the bill.
While waiting for the new bill, the lady at the table next to us ordered a glass of wine and received it with the previous patrons lipstick still on the glass, which clearly shows dishers weren't been washed up either.
Reading other reviews shows that this is the normal level of standard at Tiger's...
