This is NOT a review of food, because I didn't eat here.
However, I left because of unfriendly, uncommunicative and unhelpful service particularly by the front staff.
There wasn't any waiter or maitre d' to explain whether it's a sit-down and order experience or an 'order at the counter' set-up. And there aren't any signs to indicate as such. It was a bit confusing.
As for menus, there was only 1 (that I could find) small one at the front, in front of the cash, and none to glance at on the side, or overhead. When I asked to see it, the woman at the cashier gave me a non-verbal hand motion as if to say "wait!". This is after being given no greeting or communication as to where to wait, what to do etc. I reckon that a person had to order, then come collect their tray at the front like in a mess hall, after I saw a few people do so.
Finally, after reaching the front menu and glancing at everything, it wasn't necessarily what I wanted, but more importantly it seemed overpriced considering the options, and considering the unwelcoming and unhelpful service up until that point. Ultimately, my friend and I changed our minds because of the vibe, atmosphere and the feeling of discomfort, as if being there was an 'inconvenience' to the workers there.
Perhaps the food is great. I don't know. But with the kind of indifferent service I received, I would never set foot in there ever again. I'll take my business elsewhere, where I'm treated with a little bit of attention and/or courtesy.
The feeling I'm left with is that 'Mansion 5' is one overpriced mess hall masquerading as a chic brunch cafe. Not...
Read moreI organized a flashmob for brunch yesterday early in the morning because of that I've been wanting that sorta brunch since first weekend of this Aug. As I already wrote about an article that which I dropped by a brunch cafe at near the Daegu arboretum. The second visit gastroventure for brunch is the Mansion 5 at near around Yakjeon alley, actually it's placed near the Joongang-ro. The restaurant was looked like a Hanok house by its appearance meanwhile, the interior is just simple and a bit not cozy chairs and tables I think. Besides for now they're not serving parking free ticket so that we should parked our vehicles at the other area so that's one of inconvenience. However, most of all the menus were very nice and looked neat so that we all ordered the poached egg brunch with salmon and avocado. As you see the pics I uploaded the amount was a bit small in quantity but the taste was great even though we added two breads, haha~ I think I'm gonna choose this place for another brunch time whenever I'm begging meals for weekend. And, I do recommend you this restaurant to drop by when you also wanna brunch or when you go to downtown. I bet, you're gonna...
Read moreThis Mansion 5 has a good structure of korean style since from the gate outside up to the inside of the coffee shop. Their Hanok design is very authentic and has a good atmosphere. It has indoor and outdoor space. Indoor is a more spacious area, but walls are plain, have no painting flames, or any designs. They also have a second floor area. I like the taste of their almond kouignamann. We supposedly order with potato fries, but unfortunately, it's not available, so we ended up ordering French Toast, which is good for those people who like overload sweets. BEER is also available. 🍺 🍻
