Dosol Maeul — Restaurant in Gyeongju-si

This was the most unwelcoming restaurant I’ve experienced in Korea. The entrance was piled with dirty trays, creating a poor first impression. I came specifically for their traditional hanjeongsik meal, but the staff refused to serve me because I was dining alone. Instead of offering the main menu they advertise, I was only given the option of a few side dishes — nothing like the authentic spread people expect.

There are plenty of restaurants in Gyeongju, like Danhyanghoe, that offer a beautiful setting, warm service, and the full traditional experience regardless of whether you come solo or with a group. Dosol Maeul sadly fails on both hospitality and cleanliness. Not...

So I was with 4 friends and we decided to try the Korean Banquet to try a lot of small dishes. The variety of food was great and it was tasty. After what we thought to be the first round, the waiter said it was over. But it wasn't enough for a real dinner. Next to us was a table with only two guys and they had the same number of dishes and the same size of plates ! We said it was not fair because we had the same amount of food for 5 as for 2. But the waiter suddenly feign to not understand English and didn't want to discuss anymore. We left the restaurant...

Very delicious traditional korean food for very cheap price! Long wait to expect during weekends or holidays but it's definitely worth it. I've been there two times, in 2013 and 2017 and the quality haven't changed. There is also a good variety of traditional alcohols. It is in the heart of the traditional neighborhood in gyeongju with traditional looking korean houses all around. Don't go there of you're not really hungry because there are many different food coming up on the table. Basic price for a menu...
