Kitty and I were on a round-island bike adventure in Jeju, and we stumbled upon Hae Jigae Cafe for breakfast. We were instantly blown away by the cafe's stunning ocean views and beautiful, spacious interior.
Hae Jigae Cafe offers a unique and sophisticated experience combining stunning ocean views with a relaxed and stylish atmosphere. The interior features a modern minimalist design with abundant natural light streaming through large windows offering panoramic ocean views. Comfortable sofas and armchairs, accented with woven rattan detailing, are arranged to maximize the view. Subtle Japanese-inspired elements, such as the ceiling light fixtures, add a touch of warmth. Stepping outside, the cafe extends onto a wooden deck overlooking the rocky shoreline and calm blue water. Multiple seating areas, featuring low seating with cushions and woven-mat umbrellas, create a tranquil and inviting space. The addition of bamboo plants and a traditional-style low table adds a touch of Asian aesthetic, creating a seamless blend of modern and traditional design elements. String lights enhance the ambiance, especially at night. Overall, the cafe provides a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for those seeking a relaxing and memorable experience with a beautiful coastal backdrop.
Initially, we planned to order just a couple of pastries, but every single one looked so delicious, and the labels 'BEST" on each one made them even more appealing. We ended up getting a few pastries to enjoy in the cafe and a couple to take with us.
We loved all the pastries we tried, but the garlic bread was a true standout. It was incredible. The garlic sauce was so thick and flavorful, it practically dripped off the bread. There was so much delicious gravy that we could even drink it. It was the best garlic bread I’ve ever had in our life.
We loved the entire experience at Hae Jigae Cafe. The view was amazing, the atmosphere was calm, and the food was incredible. Everything was so nice. It was truly a perfect way to start our day. Kitty ordered the hot mocha, and I asked the server for a recommendation. They suggested the Vanilla latte, which seems to be a staff favorite, and it was absolutely delicious. It was rich, creamy, just what I needed after a...
Read moreHaejigae Cafe in Aewol boasts a stunning seaside location and a beautifully designed Hanok-inspired interior. The panoramic ocean views, especially at sunset, are truly breathtaking and provide a serene backdrop for any visit.
However, my recent experience left me somewhat disappointed. I ordered the omegi tteok bread, which is touted as their best-seller. Unfortunately, it tasted average and didn’t live up to the hype. The bread lacked the distinctive flavor and texture I expected from this Jeju specialty.
Additionally, I paired the bread with a latte, and the total cost came to approximately $15. Given the quality of the offerings, this felt overpriced. While I understand that cafes with such prime locations may charge a premium, the food and drink should justify the price point.
On a positive note, the cafe’s ambiance is charming. It’s an ideal spot for relaxation and enjoying the coastal scenery. However, for those seeking a culinary experience that matches the visual appeal, Haejigae Cafe might fall short. I hope they consider enhancing the flavor and value of their signature items to meet patrons’...
Read moreCame here for lunch to try their buffet style pastries. We got 2 trays with various items and a drink each.
I got the famous apple bread pastry and the strawberry and cream croissant and found both to be extremely sweet. The cream to croissant ratio was too high quality that it takes away from the quality of the pastry.
The black sesame latte is definitely a signature drink and I enjoyed that one very much.
Service is primarily done by yourself up until the point of payment and/or ordering your drink. The lady doesn't speak English but that is fine since it speaks for itself!
We had no issues with the service like in the last reviews. We got served nicely by the lady at the counter.
Pastries in general are too sweet, yet if that is your thing then this place is right up your alley. Aesthetically speaking this establishment is...
