구프오프 본점(Goof-off) — Restaurant in Jeonju-si

I had some pasta, salad and the tomato basil ade.

The pasta is on par with any other place that serves it. The jalapeno pasta lacked flavor and the shellfish were used sparingly. I am not sure why, but the pasta dishes here gets raved about so much among other reviewers and Korean friends. It was cooked technically fine (I would have preferred al dente), the jalapeno seafood pasta was too light. Nothing bad but nothing great.

However the shrimp guacamole salad is definitely something to avoid. I don't know what ingredients they used for guacamole but it wasn't even green. It was a yellow watery sauce that tasted like pickles. I was pretty shocked. I don't expect great guacamole in Korea in general (the proper ingredients are hard to get and there is no tradition), but most places just serve avacado with garlic and maybe tomato and call it a day. Somehow this one really got to me. It was like the guacamole was made based on seeing a picture alone "it's a green thing that goes on chips." Speaking of which , with how watery the sauce is, it shouldn't go on chips in the salad. Now there is picklely, soggy chips in the middle of bland leaves and shrimp. Salads have always been a rather tertiary choice, but until eating here I didn't realize salads could be like this.

The tomato basil ade just tastes like Sprite. The bread that comes with the meal is maybe store bought. The pesto with the bread I had to triple check was in fact pesto.
