제너럴도넛샵 — Restaurant in Jeonju-si

Jeonju has a number of great donuts around. Some strive to be unique, some offer great breading with strong classic flavors, and others mostly push sugar and style over everything. General Donut falls somewhere near that third marker.

There are some nice flavors on offer here. A Simpson's homage with strawberry filling, a peach treat filled real peach, a coffee donut that comes with its own espresso syringe etc. The presentation is spot on but the flavors aren't as complex as the style. The dough is obviously better than the papier-mâché offered are Dunkin but given some of the gems in town (Sun's brioche donuts can't be beat), the real question is how it can deliver on it's sweet toppings. It just tasts like loads of sugar. There are no other notes here. The coffee or macha flavors manage to get by, but the other fruit offerings don't come out as well.
