Bar Cold Dawn — Restaurant in Jeonju-si

Absolutely one of the best places in Jeonju. This cocktail bar has no menu. Instead you describe your taste/feelings/other foods or flavor profiles you like and the owner will make you a custom cocktail.

She's made cocktails of everything imaginable. Classics done traditionally or with a twist. Notable unique cocktails include: an apple pie cocktail, Earl grey milktea, mangoñada (mango raspa, with handmade chamoy pictured below), yuza ginger tonic, peach madoka, etc. It's impossible to stump her. The mangoñada did take some preparation, but she handmade the chamoy to make this rare treat a cocktail.

It is a small bar and there are strict rules: only 3 people in a party, mask on when not drinking, she will talk to you about her creations, and no photos of her or other customers. This isn't a place to get drunk with friends and party. It is a for enjoying cocktails and learning about cocktails...

I was recommended by a friend to try this place. Once again another gem in Jeonju for nightlife. There is no drinks menu except for a few alcoholic desserts (which were incredible). You basically tell the owner all about your preferences and she makes a cocktail out of all the jhints you give her. I had 2 drinks and both were 10/10. The owner has an amazing knowledge in the different varieties of alcohols but also any kind of flavours she makes a lots of her own syrups such as "Orgeat syrup" "plum juices" but also infusions that she then uses for her cocktails. The atmosphere is really amazing as well and once again met lots of locals there that were really friendly. Highly recommend it! At the end you are also given the receipt with the name of the creation and so you can keep it as souvenir or if you go back you can ask her to remake that same drink which is...

We knew it was hard to find. Nevertheless, we did not find it. We ended up asking an old Korean lady for the way. In the end, she led us the restaurant of one of her friends and we were fed with about 100 different kinds of traditional food. So I am not sure if this is a bad experience, as we just wanted a good cocktail, or a good experience, as we got to eat loads of delicious meals for cheap. You can make of it what you want. Maybe we will try again tomorrow...
