We went to this tiny shop on 25 Sep 25 (Thursday) for lunch that seats not more than 15-20 persons. We specifically went there after the reviews mentioned how wonderful the fish and chips were. Plus we were kind of sick eating noodles, or grilled pork almost 7 days we were in Jeju, wanted some variety. When we arrived, we were the only ones, and the menu is simple only 4 things to choose from. We chose the pricier Willala combo (30,000 krw and jeju combo 29,000 krw, eat first then pay later.
The korean owner was not chatty but speak good english (having honed it in Australia), and it seems one man show. So we waited patiently then another group of 3 women muslim & fellow Singaporeans came in, and we had a nice chat about the traffic rules and how tiring sometimes as we travel in east jeju roads, need to constantly adjust speed 70 to 50 to 30 km/hr (which we were not used to). Only Singaporean we had met and talk so far during these 7 days.
Anyways, the wait was well worth it took about 10 mins to get to plate at least. The food as described by others was delicious, with light batter. The portions are quite big as well. The only thing is that we might have shown under appreciation of his tasty food (by removing the batter for fish) and might have offended the chef.
In our defence, we would love to finish all the crunchy skin batter along with fish i chose, however after days of eating grilled pork and recent unforgiving weather (reaching 32 degrees celsius when average should be 24 degrees then) had cause heatiness within us to build up considerably.
I even developed blisters on my lips thus i too had to consciously remove one of fish skin, and only eating the tender fish which mine was shark meat (simply flesh and delicious). The chef saw the remains of our plate, and said since we don't take fried food, we should have eaten the grilled fish offered by nearby restaurant. Apologies, chef as explained we would love too, but we still have to watch our health.
We however highly recommend this place, for something different besides the pork and noodles, this is refreshing being different. The chef took much pride in preparing his dish and it shows through his cooking. In fact a 6 singaporean group was turn away, says it took approx. 35 mins to wait for their turn and ask whether they could wait. The group left as the chef was also preparing takeaways, and it takes time to fry all the fishes to golden brown perfection.
Come earlier if you want to get lunch as crowd builds up fast and there might not be enough seats or you may wait too long for your food (after all its a one man show). Worth it to detour just to have the delicious...

Read moreAfter a morning of looking around 우도 u island, we stopped here for a late lunch. It was the perfect choice. Me and my wife shared the combo platter. I was worried it wouldn't be enough food, but we both left real full. The combo came with 5 fried shrimp, 2 cheese sticks, both beer battered johndory 닭고기 (local Jeju fish) and shark 상어 and chips. The batter was spot on. The shrimp we're AMAZING; plump and cooked to perfection. The chips we're simple crinkle cut fries. Not my favorite, but I'm not much of a dry guy anyway. They have a decent selection of local beers, we went with a blue Hawaii and a couple of cokes. The two men who run the place met in Australia and honed their fish frying skills in England. It's a small joint, but a nice break from all the 흑돼지 (Jeju black pig) restaurants you find every 10 feet here. I love fish and chips and I loved this place, my wife hates fish and chips and she loved this place! If you are around,...
