I've been wanting to visit this place since the owner started posting in the Gluten and Wheat Free in South Korea FB group. It is unfortunately located in a pretty isolated area that traps the heat in summer. There are a few gf bakeries in the same block as this one.
Monil2House is a small bakery, it has about three tables and a large counter area taken up by all the baked goodsm There is a huge range. From cookies to snacks like yakgwa and even bread buns you can buy. Some of the food items are vegan as well as gf and df. The owner works there with a chocolatier. I had the sogogi panini, the coconut scone and a water on one visit and took away a sesame bun, the second visit same panini (but I think they forgot to remove the cheese), and a decaf iced Americano, and for takeaway I got a matcha macadamia cookie and a peanut butter and chocolate cookie. the food is delicious but the cookies are more like Sand cookies. The texture looks like a normal cookie but they basically fall apart and can be messy so eat with caution.
The beef panini was the best thing I ate on the trip.
The coffee tasted amazing. Like the Ethiopia blend from Seoul forest cafe.
The scone was dense and had a sweet light flavour. It was coated in coconut sugar. I would say it's not really a scone texture it's very strange. Like heavy and dense but too crumbly. It's like a heavy lamington or a light brownie. Still taste good.
A fair price for a speciality meal and dedicated gluten free.
They use oat milk in their foods. There's also a cute map on the wall where you can put a little flag up for where...
Read moreHonestly, the best gluten free food since I started abstaining from it! I'm sad I didn't visit before my last day, I would've definitely come back.
They have plenty of food: pastries, cookies, cakes, churros but also salty things like salt bread, bagels, sandwiches and pizzas.
What I liked is that all other allergens were listed and there were plenty of options for dairy free, vegan, nut free and more. As a person with IBS, I really appreciate the amount of food I could get (as I'm both. Gluten and lactose intolerant).
I also liked that you could buy bread and other packaged sweets for your next destination or perhaps a hotel breakfast that's missing a little bread.
But, it's not just basic food that we go to because we have to - the bacon, egg and cheese bagel was fantastic! Truly delicious! The best I've had since when...
Read moreVery nice glutenfree café! Everything including ice cream is self made and bread and cakes etc. are also available on order. Not everything offered is glutenfree but the owner helped very kindly and talking to him I felt he was really passionate about his work. Glutenfree and not glutenfree things are all marked in English, so you don‘t need to worry if you don’t speak Korean. I was lucky to get a table because the cafe has only 2-3 tables and they could have offered a bit more glutenfree cake. Nevertheless the variety of cookies and scones etc. and the self-made glutenfree cookie icecream made it worth to visit! Plus it’s in a walkable distance to Hongdae and therefore...
