I have been wanting another change in my hairstyle after cutting it super short past summer (I have had long hair my whole life) and getting a soft perm to add some life and volume to my dull hairstyle. Since I am staying around Sinchon, I visited VOGHair in Hongdae as it's just a two-bus stop away from my accommodation.

VOGHair has branches across Seoul and the branch at Hongdae is very easy to find after getting off the bus at Hongik University Station Exit 8. The moment I stepped in the salon, I was warmly welcomed by staff. VOGHair has an experienced line up of hair stylists and the lovely Guseul (assisted by the equally lovely Kelly) worked their magic on my hair.

I was excited with this because I've only been seeing how they perm hair in South Korea and been dying to try it! Also, since I always dye my hair I got a hair treatment which was called HAONIKO TREATMENT this was recommended by Guseul as it is the perfect treatment to use in order to restore weak and very damaged hair caused chemical treatments -- which is basically what my hair is 😅. Also I haven't had any proper hair treatment in years, so it's very needed.

At first the curls appeared like tight curls. Guseul and Kelly were even joking that they gave me ajumma curls 😂. But when it was dried, it turned into soft wavy curls that I was aiming for! I LOVED IT!

Guseul also taught me how to style/blowdry my newly permed hair so I can recreate it like how they do at the salon. Guseul, Kelly and the rest VOGHair Hongdae were absolute fab! Not only were the services perfection, they made the whole experience and visit super fun and enjoyable!

My experience with VOG hair is F 👏🏻 A 👏🏻 B 👏🏻 U 👏🏻 L👏🏻O👏🏻U👏🏻S👏🏻!!!: 5/5 - as a hijabi and not Korean speaker, I loved how they are considerate, for example a double entrance to ensure a secure zone for hijabis like me. And a translator throughout the process and actually most of the staffs speak English! From the first point of contact through IG account, to meeting the staffs in person I’ve had nothing but great service with them. They were transparent in terms of their prices as well from the beginning! I would say their prices are affordable and with someone who is on a budget. Service Quality: 5/5 I got a scalp consultation and recommendation for free, I did a hair cut which is based on the hair stylist recommendation and the results were great for me! And a head spa combo!

I had complimentary drink and treat, complementary automatic chair massage while doing head spa.

I would say they were thoughtful on how they treat their customers, I was handed a cushion to comfort me and a blanket while getting my hair washed!

This hairdressers is a complete disappointment. I have lived in Korea and visited every year and got my hair cut in lots of different places . This hairdresser was the worst for cutting hair straight. They promote themselves as foreign friendly which I thought was a novelty. They can’t speak that great English . They push for clients to get the hair moisture treatments that are over priced and try sell the packages with 20% off of you leave a google review. The whole thing is a complete shambles. With all the amazing reviews - I believed this place would be great !! But it’s not . They are not cometentant at cutting hair straight and have no technique. My daughter asked if I had cut my hair myself . I showed the hairdresser multiple pictures of what I wanted , even so many ajumma’s have cut my hair properly , it’s a simple short bob. After the colour was done which was nice - they spent 10 minutes butchering my hair and did not cut it right then charged 280, 000 won for the pleasure - this included a colour and a moisture package . Do not go here if you want your hair cut properly. I will have to explain now to my hairdresser back home, why my fringe is not cut straight and my hair is uneven. It is not a professional hair salon. It’s a place to rip foreigners off and I hate these kind of places which I rarely visit for this reason .
