Daeseongseong — Restaurant in Seoul

Food was good but the place was not clean. Flies were everywhere. Almost lost my appetite but just ate what I could and left. Almost 2/3 of the menu wasn’t available so I don’t know what was going on. They only had the two pho noodles available and two side dishes and that’s it. I don’t think I’ll ever come back. I saw good reviews about this place from food critics and influencers but either they don’t know what they’re talking about or they lied. This place is not bad but is certainly overrated. One of the best pho places in Korea, definitely. This renovated traditional Korean residential house is full of surprises. Feels like you’re in a gallery not a restaurant. Lots of interesting objects and paintings. The food is great and at the same time authentic Vietnamese. Especially loved their Bánh xèo with assorted vegetables. This restaurant serves Vietnamese pho, bun cha, and cha jo. The restaurant, housed in a renovated hanok (traditional Korean house), has a unique atmosphere. Compared to the bun cha I'd had in Hanoi, Vietnam, they serve lettuce instead of herbs, a Korean style. The vinegar sauce is also lightened to suit Korean palates.
