Have you visited this Hanok Village in South Korea The Ikseondong Hanok Village located in Seoul South Korea, is one of the cutest & aesthetic neighborhoods. This place consists of small alleyways lined with Hanoks & many one of a kind restaurants, cafes & boutique shops. This neighborhood has such a peaceful & relaxed atmosphere making if the perfect spot to walk around & explore. I especially loved all the adorable cafes in the area, as everything had such uniqueness to it & was unlike many cafes I’ve visited before. The cafes had different themes & beautifully designed interiors. With my personal favorites being the Soha Salt Pond Cafe & Appiforet Cafe. And besides food I really enjoyed discovering all the shops here. Many of stores are decorated stunningly as well, with each having their own style. From clothing, jewelry, accessories & more there was a great amount of shopping choices. I made the trip to this spot on a Saturday during the early day and was surprised how this place wasn’t packed at all. There was tons of space to walk around & get pictures this day without any crowds. If visiting I definitely recommend going earlier in the day & avoiding the crowds in order to get the best experience. As many of the alleyways here are more narrow. Overall this is such a beautiful place to visit!! And definitely make sure to save this spot if your planning a trip to Seoul soon!! #seoul #ikseondonghanokvillage #seoultravel #koreatravel #travelkorea #travelseoul

Authentic South Korean Heritage at Ikseondong Hanok Village My visit to Ikseondong Hanok Village in February was a captivating journey into South Korea's cultural roots. Nestled within the heart of Seoul, this quaint village exuded charm and heritage at every corner. The traditional Hanok houses, with their curved tiled roofs and wooden architecture, painted a vivid picture of bygone eras. Wandering through the labyrinthine alleys felt like stepping back in time, immersing myself in the genuine essence of local Korean culture. The fusion of old-world aesthetics and modern sensibilities was striking. Charming cafes, galleries, and boutiques nestled in these historic structures added a contemporary flair while preserving the area's authenticity. The village exuded a serene ambiance, inviting visitors to explore its hidden gems and embrace the simplicity and elegance of traditional Korean living. It was a cultural enclave that left a lasting impression, offering a glimpse into the soul of South Korea.

It's a perfect area to stroll and wander around intertwined, maze-like photogenic hanok alleys. But definitely do it during weekdays and avoid weekends because it gets quite crowded even during weekdays to my standards. As for restaurants and cafes, mostly over-priced and over-publicized via internet and TV shows. After all, it is a touristy area, especially among young locals. One thing I would like to mention is that there were more foreign cuisines than Korean restaurant options, which to me was a shame. I guess it's a trend to eat pasta or pizza or Thai. So if you're like me looking for a decent traditional Korean meal, get out of there. Just all around nearby, there are tons of awesome restaurants all around. Strolling only in the area and maybe taking some pictures of beautiful Korean architectures will suffice.

Situated between Insadong and Jongmyo Shrine, I feel this is a very convenient but slightly underrated neighborhood. This incredibly delightful section of the city features both traditional hanok-style buildings and modern architecture. Photogenic restaurants, cozy coffee bars, and colorful boutique shops line the pleasant narrow alleys. While I was here, I stumbled upon Songam Onban, a Korean restaurant that wound up being my favorite dining experience in Seoul (I wrote a separate review about that). I would definitely recommend this captivating little neighborhood which felt less crowded and more charming than the nearby Insadong Culture Street.

Really loved this little alley. The narrow alleys lined with adorable aesthetic cafes and restaurants felt intimate and romantic. It’s a little vintage yet modern, felt a bit European meets Studio Ghibli with a slight modern flair. Most shops were coffee spots and they were tasty. Lots of couples. Love that they close late in case you just want a chill place to hang. There are also some restaurants that serve beer, snacks so you can enjoy this also. There were some clothing shops as well but didn’t feel as high quality for someone 30+, maybe 20’s fashion okay.

In these small alleys, there are so many unique shops. The buildings of the shops in this place are so typical of their traditional style. One of the shop/cafes that I really want to visit and quite famous in this place is Madang Cafe. It's so pretty from the outside. It sells so many beautiful mini flowers, and there's a little cafe in there, but I didn't visit the cafe back then. And the other shops and cafes are no less beautiful and crowded with visitors. In this place, there is also Seine Cafe which is the filming site for Hotel Del Luna.
