It started with the rushed hostess who went over the menu and wanted us to make an order almost as soon as we sat down and put aside my backpack. She took the order for my drink, and a new server arrived. I specifically chose noodles after my main course, as I normally do after BBQ. He went over the entire order and repeated that I ordered the stew. I corrected him. He went over the menu incorrectly again, and in the process, I noticed his eyes wandered to look down at my wife’s shirt as he was standing over her. I decided not to make an issue over it. I corrected him on our order, and I asked him specifically to go over it again, which he did correctly – was he offended that I asked him to do this? When after the main course, the order was wrong – smh. The waitress who brought out the food called him on their walkie-talkie and had him come out. He cupped his hand and whispered in her ear only. She indicated that I changed my mind a few times, and the order was confusing. There was no change in mind EVER. While we were ordering, my wife asked for clarification about two types of beef, and we decided to share our meals. I did not order Octopus over rice, nor would I order that, nor have I ordered Octopus while in Korea. I was offended because I felt this young man who looked down at my shirt decided to 한방먹여. The waitress offered to exchange the dish, which I declined. The two offenses I experienced aren’t going to be settled by getting me a bowl of noodles. The waitress did ask what happened and why I thought about speaking to her management. So, I pulled her aside and explained the sexual advancement, which offended me, and that I felt that the male waiter intentionally submitted an incorrect order or his memory was not good and that he should carry a pen and paper. I wonder if others have experienced this waiter. Anyhow, I didn’t want to be THAT guy who made a scene or complained to get a new dish that might be compromised, nor did I need a bowl of noodles. I elected to proceed to finish the meal. The entire time there, they were all rushing to feed us and end the night with them, but after this encounter, they did not come by as often. I might have been overly sensitive by now. The waitress did come by and offered to finish our meal. At that point, I asked about our dessert. Her response sounded like, “Oh, you want dessert?” I asked for my bill, and no dessert was necessary – I told her I wanted to get out. She was now antagonistic and wanted to bring the desserts. I was firm on wanting my check and leave. I intended to pay fully the amount due and be done with it. The view is spectacular. The price is not friendly. Service appears to be friendly but I can sense ungenuine and overly “rushed” to move things along. The food’s presentation is better than the taste. We went for the view, and we got that – we didn’t expect this...
Read moreWe had high hopes coming here as tourists from USA. My Mom saw it highly recommended online by a Korean celebrity and brought her high school friend she hasn't seen in over 30 years. It began with a strange conversation with Ms. Koo while trying to make a reservation by phone. She cut off my Mom, who speaks Korean, as she tried to ask a couple of questions and then hung up on her saying make a reservation on Catch Table. Han Cook only appears on the Korean app, not the English one. It wouldn't accept my credit card from USA. We called back a couple of times and no one picked up. Finally a nice lady named Ms. Bae called us back and confirmed our reservation. We arrived today for lunch and were seated promptly. The food was not notable for paying 147,000 Won for 3 people. We got the Korean steak lunch with dwenjang jjigae. The steaks were really fatty (chunks, not marbled) and came out lukewarm. The nurungji rice didn't crisp like it's supposed to. The mini salad was the best tasting part. The tower that turns barely moved in the 1+ Hour we were there so we had the same view the entire time. When I went to pay, we met Ms. Koo. She told me that my credit card wasn't accepted even though it asked me to sign my signature. She ran it again and then started speaking rudely to me saying my card was declined. I've been here over a week and have had no problem with the Chase Sapphire Reserve. I gave her a 2nd card. She said that was declined as well. I suggested that the credit card terminal was having an issue. She snapped back that it had no issue and the issue was me and my cards. Super embarrassing in front of my mom's friend. My mom gave her card, which also didn't work. Now Ms. Koo is starting to speak louder and more rudely to me and my mother saying none of our cards work. I tried Google GPay for the Chase card and it finally went through. Obviously the credit card terminal was having issues with an American issued physical credit card. No apologies from Ms. Koo for being so rude and snippety with us. Never recommending this...
Read moreWent here for dinner today for two people as a birthday celebration. We ordered the course menu at 95,000 per head, plus a bottle of gin (pictured) and an a la carte plate of sashimi.
The sashimi plate was pretty nice and actually one of the best dishes of the night - the salmon was great and the volume was impressive.
We ordered the blade top and tenderloin cuts of beef, but the first was cooked well-done and didn't have any taste and was just not enjoyable. Probably the first time I've left beef at a 'fancy restaurant'.
What bugged me the most was the staff's attitude - they actually took both our plates from us whilst we were eating (there was literally food between our chopsticks) so they could serve the next course. I understand if you want us to hurry up, but be polite and definitely do not take our food away without even saying anything!! We finished well before the 2 allotted hours were up anyway so there shouldn't have been a problem.
Apart from that, most of the food was pretty bland and not worth the cost. We did however leave feeling incredibly full, so if you're looking for quantity over quality then this is the place.
The view was quite nice, and much better than what is offered from the observatory. Pro tip if you don't go to a restaurant: the toilets have a better view of the night sky and skyline than the...
