Paolo de Maria — Restaurant in Seoul

Where to begin... very disappointed to the point where it's just sad how people are willing to pay such a premium price like Michelin star restaurant for this kind of mediocre at best pretended restaurants. Date: 9/1 lunch Service: this was only part that was good. Food: bland, under cooked pasta. al dente is not undercooked pasta. My fusilli was way undercook. Pizza was oversized Neapolitan style. Dough was bland and I didn't understand the concept of veggies on top. It wasn't arugula or basil. I believe it was watercress which was unique in a bad way. To be fair, pizza was cooked ok, slightly burnt crust bringing good bitter taste, but sadly it was just tasteless. Was it worth $26? Maybe for the owner, but not in my million years! I don't know who prepared my food but clearly never really learned the core and poorly executed. No passion of cooking, but to sell to make living or just to get by. White guy standing there in front of the open kitchen is there for the show. I don't think he cooks. Portion was unreal. I am not a big eater, but why the heck are you so stingy with the portion? You Never want customers leaving your restaurant feeling hungry. So sad... never once in my life traveling everywhere around the world have I ever felt like being ripped off. I don't usually write a review like this but I was too compelled and wanted everyone to be aware of this place. Little tomatos and poor quality olive oil and dried pasta (that's right! Not fresh made!) shouldn't cost more than $7. Decor and ambiance: dated... felt old and dusty. I would never take my date there.

I hope the owner take this review seriously and either step up or close the business. Customers will catch up sooner or later. We live in...

We’d visited Paolo de Maria recently on a Sunday evening after reading the good reviews on Paolo.The restaurant is located on the ground floor of a commercial building, on the main road, near a petrol station. As a tourist not familiar with Seoul, it look us some effort to locate it as we traveled to Buamdong by bus.As we’d arrived quite late, the restaurant was quite quiet at that time. The waiter explained that the earlier customers had finished eating and had left. Increíble italian experience! This place is one of the best refined Italian restaurants I have been in Korea if not the best The dishes are phenomenal and the menu is very diverse. Quality and flavours are authentic and the portions are very decent. The dessert trolley is the best! Impossible to resist trying a bit of each of the deserts on display.
