I heard this place serves very good pastries and its like one of the best in Seoul and is comparable to those in France. I walked there and I was quite shocked at the ambience and the decor of the place it looks so high end it can really compete with how a fine dining restaurant looks like. The place looks rather big, but I think the middle is hollow so the moment you walk into the shop you are just walking in a circular direction. The items are well categorized into sections so its quite easy to look for the items you want. The pastries really look very exquisite and all are tempting to try but I just asked the cashier to recommend me a few. Nice and very detailed desserts, like the apple I ordered, nicely filled with apple cubes in the interior . The choux also tasted good and jammed packed with cream. There were seats around so I just picked an empty place and sat down. I believe there is another level lower which has more seats, but I didn't explore because I was there rather late and they were like 20 mins to closing. Expensive? Yes a little, but I think it's pretty alright for the quality of the pastries they serve. It's a pretty good place to find friends to chill and relax and share...
Read moreI had the truffle mushroom sandwich, sweetcorn egg tart and two other seasonal pastries. The highlight was definitely the sandwich, good amount of filling to sauce to bread ratio, bread was good quality, and had enough variety of truffle, mustard, mushroom and veg to keep the flavours interesting.
The pastries were very average despite how appetising they look.
The service was ok except for the Cafe area where they made me walk around the shop trying to find a seat before they would allow me to buy one. And there’s not many tables here. Due to this, I’m not a big fan of the dine-in experience. It’s very much grab and go.
I also have a feeling they put dairy milk in my latte instead of oat milk, which can be a deadly mistake.
Presentation of food and coffee is also not a priority, which is a shame for the price. So overall it’s a decent cafe to grab a bite, and considering the lack of options for a coffee and a small meal in the area, it does make an ok...
Read moreBoth me and my partner had pastries there a few days ago and found that the pastries were both underwhelming and overpriced.
We ordered an eclair and a Mille-feuille and were dissatisfied with both for the following reasons:
The choux pastry of the eclair was moist and soft instead of flaky. That could be fine, but not from a bakery marketing itself as French, and certainly not with the price tag.
With the Mille-feuille, the issue was the strawberry. Instead of using fresh strawberries, the staff is using a cheap strawberry jam. Again, this would be fine if they wished to reduce de costs to deliver cheap pastries, but it is inconsistent with the price tag.
There is plenty of places to get pastries in this area of the city. My recommendation is that you simply...
