The hostel/capsule is a nice location and could be amazing, but after spending a week there I can say I understand most of both positive and negative reviews.
The positives : As mentioned, location is amazing. Lots of transportation around, and lots of cafes and food places and supermarkets The common area is well designed, there is a simple breakfast included with boiled eggs which is very good protein for the morning :) The beds are well designed. Please note the upper ones are a bit wider with space for a bag, the bottom ones have not much space except the mattress. You have individual lamp and electric socket in every pod. You have a fridge for guests but it’s super small while there are two big fridges for staff. Should be improved .
The negatives : There is lots of noise coming from the bars around during the weekend , almost not noticeable during week days but during weekend, you can hear everything through the small window in your pod which doesn’t isolate enough The door of the male room still has no lock (problem mentioned on a review many months ago, still not fixed) The door to the bathroom (inside dorm) and the main door to the dorm are metallic door which are super noisy when operated by careless people which is a common species in hostel. As no warning is given about this when checking in, many guys just slam the doors as they haven’t received a proper education in their life, which is not the hostel’s responsibility, but they should give a warning The atmosphere and staff could be way more friendly, I understand the comments. There is one Korean guy who is the manager, he’s here mostly afternoon/evening. I can’t say he’s very friendly nor unfriendly. He seems to be way more communicative and friendly with young pretty western women than other types of travelers… The other two girls (volunteering ?) are not very communicative, they’re here for cleaning mostly and just stay around, don’t make it obvious they’re employees. The whole atmosphere resulting of this is a kind of automated place with no presence. As a result, the place is far from being social, but at least it’s not a noisy place with party and such. Last, the cleaning could be much better. During the week I have been, the floor around the urinal has never been cleaned, the body wash soap has not been refilled and was empty. The exhausting vents are full of dust, generally speaking the basic daily cleaning is partly done but this hostel would need more deep cleaning sometimes. I’m not very picky about this topic but I can totally understand all the comments I have seen from...
Read moreThe cube hostel concept was a convenient, inexpensive and relatively private option. Check-in was efficient (I was sent codes to enter the rooms ahead of time).
A locker is provided for each guest with enough space to store a carry-on bag. The combination lock is provided: no need to bring your own. Complimentary slippers were also provided.
The cubes were comfortable, and with the curtains, provided more privacy than a typical hostel arrangement. Each cube contains a light and an international power outlet (so you can charge your phone without needing an adapter). There's a bit of space to the side of the mattress where I was able to keep my backpack while sleeping. There are also some hooks to hang coats.
The male dorm has two showers, two toilets, and a urinal, so it's less likely that you'll be waiting for someone else. Shampoo and body wash are provided in the shower, and plenty of small towels were also available. The toilet did smell a little, and there was no hand soap near the sinks, but that's probably to be expected for the hostel experience.
My main concern was that I didn't see any staff at all throughout my stay, and another visitor was unable to reach the owners by phone. So if you need any help when checking in or throughout your stay, you might not be...
Read moreI stayed here for 5 nights and here is my review:
Summary: Good value and convenient location, a lot of variety around the area
Pros: easy ish to interact with others because many guests speak English, although not much opportunity for interaction close to the party street, at night at 4am you can just walk back no curfew cubes for beds are relatively big, you can store your carry on luggage by your bed free breakfast from 8-10am! A decent variety considering it’s free
Cons: bathroom is not too maintained, at times there are pieces of hair and paper on the ground on the weekends you can hear the partying until 4-5am, but they have free ear buds at the front desk for you to use shared fridge for hostel guests is way too tiny if you want to store bigger take out items you can hear other guests talking outside if you’re trying to sleep at night sometimes the hostel feels like it’s past its time, maybe it was lively in 2019 but now it feels quiet. If you are an extrovert I suggest a hostel that offers a better...
