We were in Costa Adeje, Tenerife for our honeymoon, and we happened to ride by Restaurante Transilvania in a taxi cab. My paternal grandfather is a Hungarian from Transylvania, so I was definitely interested in trying the food. We saw the good reviews, so we made a visit a of couple days later.
The food is Transylvanian Romanian, and if you choose the patio seating out front, you get an incredible view of the mountains. Our server was friendly, and she was helpful when I had questions about the beers on the menu. She went above and beyond to accommodate us.
I am very familiar with Hungarian stuffed cabbage, so I was excited to try the Romanian stuffed cabbage. The cabbage rolls were smaller than I am used to, probably more a tapas-style serving here. But they were quite delicious. It was one of my favorite foods on our trip, and I think I would make a point to come back to Restaurante Transilvania for the stuffed cabbage if we return to Tenerife in the future. Read moreGreat place for a culinary experience, close to Costa Adeje. The food is something else, whether you're a homesick Romanian, a serious foodie or just a hungry passer-by. Try all the soups (yes, this might ask for multiple visits!), the 'mititei', the 'mămăligă' (Romanian polenta), try the wide selection of drinks, and don't forget the desserts. The staff is very friendly and forthcoming and, something that I've rarely seen in a restaurant, the work in the kitchen is so well timed that there is almost no waiting between the successive dishes. The prices are around the local average and the parking opportunities around the restaurant are multiple. Definitely one of the highlights of our 2024 visit...
Read moreThe food was very well cooked, everything was exactly as it should be. We had aubergine salad as a starter and then tripe soup and mici with fries. The aubergine salad had the taste of grilles aubergine as should, the quantity of mayo was just perfect and you can taste it is home made mayo. The tripe soup was great and this type of soup is very easy to hate if not well cooked, luckily it was not the case here as the soup was good. The mici were also well cooked, not dry and with the autentic taste of grill served with real fries made from real potatoes ( important to mention as there are plenty of restaurants in Tenerife where they serve frozen ones). I definitely recommend going...
