I would give this place a negative score if I could. They ruined our vacation, and the next several months of my life. We came to Tenerife from the US and stayed at the Grand Tacande Hotel which recommended Portofino restaurant. Well, the restaurant has a poorly marked step down in the back (which you have to take if need to use a bathroom). I fell and twisted my ankle. Next day, I had to go to an emergency room, where they put my foot in a cast (due to torn ligament), prescribed anticoagulant injections from thrombosis, and gave me crutches to use. This happened on 2nd day of our arrival! I had to use a wheelchair at the airport and could not even shower for several days. This restaurant should be shut down to protect the unsuspecting tourists! And they did not even offer us anything to "make things better" like a free desert or a limoncello. So far I visited 3 doctors and paid $1,000 overall. And this is without physical therapy which is yet to be started. Shame on you, Portofino. Hopefully you go out of business soon - which...
Read moreI was slightly disappointed to be honest. The food was okay, we had a pasta dish and pizza calzone that were not bad but the atmosphere and design of the place was raw and not at all Italian and the service was just average. Nevertheless, covid measures were followed to the letter.
We had a little trouble finding the place (walked past it at first) as it’s not very clearly branded and does not portray that “warm and cozy Italian feel” at all.
To be on the constructive side, I’d advice the owner to change the design of the place, e.g. by changing tables and chairs to a more cozy, comfortable type with a more natural look, more warm lighting (lamps etc) perhaps some plants etc. I’d also put an obvious sign on the back wall on the outside with the restaurant name to make it obvious what the place is called. Perhaps using the Italian flag colors on the glass fence to make the restaurant type (Italian) obvious.
Having said all that, we were not unhappy so thank you...
Read moreThe food here was absolutely delicious. After having traditional spanish food every day for a week we decided to change a bit and choose an italian place. And that was a great choice. I think this was the best italian food we ever had, everything was absolutely great. We had mussels marinara and garlic focaccia for starter which we shared in 2 and it was more than enough ( the mussels come with 2 slices of bread which we didn’t know ) . Then for main i had the seafood risotto which had so much fish, and tasted amazing. My partner had carbonara and he said it was also very good. We shared a tiramisu for desserts which again was soo good. I had a barraquito coffee which is traditional in canaries, this was very tasty. This is an amazing choice to go for lunch if you are around Playa del Duque beach, is very close to the beach and the quality of the food is just great. Also very affordable...
