We arrived last Sunday and for us, the moment we arrived we were so well looked after, a big shout out to Roberto in reception he was so lovely, we really enjoyed the welcoming reception team and a lovely arrival drink. |We arrived well before the 3pm check in and we totally understand that your room may not be available, but I strongly recommend that you get the RUI app as this allows you to book in before you even fly out and it's so much easier for us and the reception team. |We were very happy that Roberto explained everything to us, where all the facilities were etc, restaurant times, and we were also given complimentary voucher for a coffee or soft drink whilst we wait and within 15 minutes I received a text that our room was ready. Gracias team. |Ok the room. I requested online a quiet room and that we are on our honeymoon, the room on the 3rd floor was very nice and comfortable and Indeed quite so no drama, it was very clean and inviting. The next day though we thought about changing the room, not because there was an issue with it but I have a sleeping problem and I forgot to ask for a twin when I booked. |This is were we think the hotel went above and beyond to look after us and by using the RUI app I requested for a room change from the comfort of the room, I can not believe that within 10 minutes the reception called me and said we can't change the beds but we can offer you a different room and would we like to see it before we wanted to move, wow how amazing and accommodating is that, we couldn't have asked for more and the 2nd room was excellent so again thank you team excellent service we think, not only that they left a little shoulder bag on the bed as an apology for not giving us the room we wanted, but to be perfectly honest it was my mistake but it was so sweet of them to do this. On our 2nd day we returned to our room to find a complementary bottle of fizz in an ice bucket, again for us above and above and beyond 💙. |This hotel is perfect for us, it's quiet, away from the hustle and noise and so well maintained and quite beautiful as it is our first time here we are so impressed, I can't understand how other reviews say it is "hostile" especially to English guests, that's absolute nonsense, I have seen so many UK guests hugging and genuinely loving the staff here and they must be coming here for some time and we can understand why, we love this hotel and all of the staff. The food has been excellent and the choice is fantastic and the waiting team are fantastic and have been so welcoming and warm we are sincerely grateful for them to provide such excellent service, again some quite sad reviews about the food and service we have been blown away from the moment we arrived. The Ole restaurant is a must we highly recommend it and honestly the food was amazing and I had the best steak for a very long time, shout out to the chefs we loved it and it only adds to our lovely stay here. |The little touches we have experienced have been so lovely, from the complementary bag, the house keeper bringing my bar of soap when we moved, the fizz, the warmest of welcomes and moving us at such short notice whilst being so busy checking in/out other guests.|We had such a laugh with the entertainment, yes it's a bit old school and when the Monday singer swollewed a fly mid song and started to choke was so funny we had tears in our eyes from laughing. He's ok though. And we have enjoyed most of the evening singing and we really appreciate that it finishes at 11pm. |We are leaving tomorrow morning but we will definitely be back we have had such a lovely time here. |The hotel management should be very proud of their team, they have exceeded our expectations and we think this we be our number one choice for Tenerife ( we have been coming to Tenerife for 6 years) and for the exact reason that's it quite, relaxing, very well maintained and the staff are wonderful and the food etc, the pools, beach infinity pool has been exemplary and I think that the hotel enacting the policies that are very clearly stated about dress code, but also quite relaxed if you wear sensible attire and that's only in the evening right so come on it's not rocket surgery is it. To complain about this is quite sad really as we've not seen anything other than exceptional service, and btw I saw the waiting team ask another person to change his "vest" and he wasn't British. Please respect others and they will respect you, also if you hadn't noticed, this hotel is a European hotel, not "little Britain" grow up. |Big shout out to Reisond, Christabal "the Spanish cockney" Felix and TBF the entire team for making our stay such a lovely memory....
Read moreMy boyfriend and I absolutely loved our stay here. As a younger couple we thought we'd feel out of place, however it was so peaceful and the perfect relaxation holiday. With three pools and hundreds of sun beds there wasn't that usual rush to find one. We would go beside the pool in the afternoons and there would still be plenty available both in the sun and shade.
The entertainment is aimed at the older generation, however we would go down to the beach every night where there is a few bars.
The hotel is in a lovely location on the island, you feel completely safe walking around at night and by yourself. A lot of the day trips we did (Siam park, water sports, jungle park) all take place about a 5-15min taxi ride away which only cost between €5-15.
The staff at the hotel are so attentive and sweet. One night in the dining room a staff member over heard me say that I'd forgotten a spoon and seconds later he was pushing my chair back in and handing me a spoon. The maids were also exceptional, finding new ways to leave pretty designs in our room whether it was folding the dressing gowns or the towels and flannels into bows.
The rooms themselves were incredible. Ours had a slight sea view and a balcony. The bed was absolutely huge, you could happily sleep 3 people in them. I personally have to sleep with a fan on when at home for the noise and the hotel room had a fan and air con which was ideal and had a range of temperatures. If you get too cold, there's also an additional thicker blanket in the top of the wardrobe. As we kept leaving ours on, by the third day the maids were making our beds complete with blanket.
*Note that the bathroom door is basically a divider so get comfortable using the toilet in front of your other half 😂 if not, the reception area has incredibly large toilets which are lovely.
The food at the hotel was exceptional. I'm a very fussy eater, so for me personally there wasn't a big choice, I had sauce with either pasta or rice most nights. However, all the food I did try was lovely. For dinner there was a huge selection of fish, salad, desserts. The cooked food in front of you to your taste such as rare or well done. They also had separate sections for meats that were cooked differently. There was pizza, chips and pasta every night along with 2 different choices of soup and bread. One night there was burgers, roast chicken and a chocolate fondue!
*Note that the drinks you have at dinner aren't included in half board and you have to pay for them at the end of your stay
The breakfast had an equally large variety, tea and coffee with either hot or cold milk, loads of juices to choose from, a toast maker which different breads and any topping such a jams or beans. There was porridge, cooked breakfast items, bacon, ham, loads of different cooked eggs, they even made omelettes fresh with fillings of your choice!
Overall, I couldn't give the hotel higher praise. If I ever return to Tenerife I will definitely be staying again. Thank you so much to all the staff for making it such a lovely experience. I hope all RIU hotels are the same as I'll definitely be seeking...
Read moreI have mainly very positive things to say about this adults only hotel and would like to counter some other reviews here. Riu Arecas is beautifully located, in the more quiet part of Costa Adeje and about half an hour by bus from the bustling centre of Playa de las Américas. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel. Or you can walk along the beautiful traffic-free boulevard to the turistic centre. The hotel and the rooms are spotlessly clean. The rooms are well equiped. They may not all have brand new furniture, but that's normal. Most of the staff is very kind and hard-working. They speak several languages. The food is great! Extensive buffets with lots of choice and different specialties every day. Reviewers who say that they ate the same every day must be very picky... Drinks are not included with dinner though and the wine prices are quite steep. The coffee is not too brilliant, but this seems to be a general Tenerife problem ... nothing compared to the Spanish mainland. There are three good-sized swimming-pools and you can always find a seat, at least in the off-peak season. There are some stairs to take to the third pool, but it's not that bad. Nevertheless, if you have serious mobility issues, this hotel is maybe not for you... neither is Tenerife in general for that matter, as there are hills everywhere. I also recommend the weekly free party at the Riu Buenavista hotel up the coast. They organise a shuttle and drinks are free. They put on a great show and all ages are welcome.
However, I must mention two major cons and I wish the hotel would fix them... The first is that - if you are unfortunate - they give you a room in the basement or a room near a noisy ventilator or generator, that runs basically most of the day and night. I was given a room next to a kitchen ventilator of some kind and the sound was deafening. I was able to get a nice and quiet new room after the first night, but I guess that's not always possible in the peak season. The hotel should really do something about soundproofing the rooms or using quieter systems. I suspect they hand out those lesser rooms to last minutes and singles. That is a bit shameful ... An even bigger concern though is the absolute lack of security in the hotel. There are several ways to get into the hotel without passing through the main entrance, straight off the parking lot into hallways with rooms ... through open passages, without the need to swipe you room card. The one back door with card is so low, a skilled person can climb over it. I saw no guards. I chose not to be afraid and nothing went wrong for me personally, but this is an accident waiting to happen. It gives ample opportunity to thieves or worse. It's also bad for the hotel, as you can just walk in freely and have breakfast without having to say a room number. In light of this, it is also incomprehensible that the hotel charges guests for the use of the room safe. I would love to return one day, but would hope that by then, the security is better and the low-quality rooms have...
