I generally eat at the Maharaj just up the road but having seen the reviews and number 1 restaurant rating for the Indian Fusion I decided to give it a try.
On reflection it seems that most of the 5* reviews which have been posted appear to be reviews of the food rather than the restaurant this might explain my relatively low 3* review.
FOOD 4* - I started with onion bhaji which was excellent, it was cooked as 4 small portions which meant that the bhaji was crisp throughout. The pickle tray mango and roita was so watery I had to pick the dishes up and pour them as I couldn't pick them up with the spoon. The chicken tikka kahari was also excellent however the pilau rice was cold and the garlic naan was hard and chewy.
LOCATION 3* - The restaurant is sandwiched between a group of shops and the outside sitting area faces onto a parking area and busy road (see photographs).
SERVICE 3* - The service was friendly but very rushed and there were 2 events which I found totally unacceptable. Firstly I was about 3/4 of the way through my started when a waiter walked up and said here's your main course and left it on the table!!! When I finsihed the starter he came and cleared away the dishes but placed the dirty starter plate and cutlery back in front of me to use for the main course (see photograph)!!!!
VALUE FOR MONEY 3* - The final bill was 28.85€, the same meal at the Maharaj is 22.50€ with better all round food, better service and a great location in a pedestian only area with views of the canals.
Would I go back, no not to eat in the restauarnt but possibly...
Read moreBe warned. This restaurant is extremely overrated both here and on Tripadvisor.
I'm sure if you come in with almost no experience with Indian and Pakistani food, you'll walk away mildly satisfied and interested in the cuisine.
But I could also easily see how some people might write off the food entirely, which is unfortunate.
For those who have had good Indian food already, this is tasteless in comparison. None of the common components of the Indian kitchen are visible. The chicken was overcooked and dry, with a bland and uninteresting taste. The same goes with the other meat. The curry saunce itself was also boring and had an unattractive color and texture. The naan bread was OK, but quite doughy and tough. In addition, we received none of the sides we asked for, despite confirmation from the staff. To make matters worse, the food was also crazy expensive. Clocking over 100 euros for four adults. We ordered takeaway, but none of the food was marked, so we were forced to sort through and find whose food was in the boxes. This gets problematic with different "spice levels".
So please. Save your money and your time. Look for some of the far superior Indian restaurants further north in Alcudia and Port d'Alcúdia.
I hate to leave a bad review. I'm sure the staff are nice and work hard to deliver decent meals. But someone has to provide a fair assessment and correct the scores here. So take it...
Read moreMyself and my husband came to the restaurant yesterday evening around 7:30pm. We booked online and fully reccomend this because they are very busy and for good reason too. The staff are lovely and very helpful, service is fast. They are very attentive popping over to check regularly. The food was incredible, we had some poppadoms, and the Meat mixed starter. Then we had chicken tikka masala and lamb rogan josh, these are both naturally mild dishes so we asked for some extra spice on the rogan. We had 1 portion of rice which was plenty to share between 2 people. And we have a garlic naan and then a garlic, chilli cheese naan which I've never had before, very tasty but very hot which small green chillis which is great if you like spicy food. We also had dessert, 1 icecream and 1 portion of gulab jamin. Plus a jug of sangría and big bottle of water. All came to €70.00 which for the quality and service is in our opinión a bargain. If you love indian food please go here you won't regret it!...
