We’ve had some lovely meals during our 7 day stay in Alcúdia, but Sa Romana gave us more than just a great meal. It was a fantastic dining experience.
From the lovely young lady serving our food, to the passionate descriptions of how the food on offer is sourced, prepared and cooked by her Father, often from recipes handed down from her Grandparents, Gal, the daughter of our host for the evening, was the perfect guide through our culinary evening.
Speaking personally, I hate when the dishes from one course are barely cleared away when the next course arrives.
This is not how Sa Romana do things.
Everything moves along at a leisurely pace, giving you time to enjoy each delicious mouthful of food, then relax, have a little more excellent wine, and chat while the Chef prepares your next course from scratch.
So if you are the hustling busy type, always in a hurry, maybe Sa Romana will not be for you.
The portions are generous, and you will not leave hungry. All the ingredients used are fresh and the pasta is made fresh for each dish, so much so that Gal informed us that if we would like to make any tweaks to the ingredients to suit our taste, that would not be a problem.
The food and wine were perfect.
I had the Carpaccio and my wife had the Buffalo mozzarella starters, followed by Tagliatelle Fungi with Porchini for myself and Sweet Potato Gnochi for my wife.
We finished off our evening with a Chocolate Brownie and homemade vanilla Ice cream.
Everything we ate was exquisite and as we chatted with the Owner/Chef before we left, he was genuinely interested in what we thought of the meal, we couldn’t help but hope that this restaurant goes from strength to strength.
If you do travel to Alcúdia anytime soon, or anywhere within easy travelling, do yourself a favour and experience a meal at Sa Romano.

We first came across the restaurant on Google so decided to take a walk out there one evening just after arriving in Majorca.
We saw the building set back from the road and as we walked up the entrance, we were lost in the smell of lemons from the trees that line the path.
Unfortunately, we couldn't get a table that night but booked for a few days later, certain that we wanted to see more.
It was well worth the wait.
We were taken out to the garden and given a table with the most lovely view of the plants, trees and mountain landscape beyond.
The service was outstanding, the menu focussed on showcasing the highest quality ingredients prepared fresh to order.
We loved that the menu was explained to us, dish by dish, the obvious passion for their offerings made us pick dishes we normally wouldn't have chosen just because we were caught up in the romance of it all!
We started with local Sobresada and a baked Provolone. At this point, we were completely enamoured.
However, the clear star of the show is the homemade pasta. Please make sure you try it in any form.
I had the Tagliatelle with Porcini Mushrooms and Parmesan, my husband opted for the Chicken Cannelloni.
We both felt in all our travels, we had never tasted pasta dishes this good.
This father and daughter team are incredible. We cannot be effusive enough in our praise. Whilst they are still operating on a soft opening, you may be in luck and grab a table. I suspect this may not be the case in the months and years to come.
This is simple honest food, presented with flair. The most incredible ingredients prepared with love. Fine dining delivered at local prices.
We will, without doubt,...

I recently dined at this restaurant, and I must say, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. From the moment I walked in, I had a sense that something wasn't quite right.
First and foremost, the portion sizes were shockingly small. I left the restaurant feeling far from satisfied, and I even had to grab a snack on the way home just to quell my hunger. This alone was disappointing, but it only got worse.
The prices, on the other hand, were exorbitant for the meager portions we received. I expected to pay a premium for a dining experience, but I did not anticipate such an unreasonable cost for so little food. It felt like daylight robbery.
Adding to the frustration was the excruciatingly long wait for our meals to arrive. It's one thing to have small portions, but quite another to have to wait an eternity for them. The entire dining experience felt like a never-ending ordeal.
In the end, this restaurant left me feeling like I had been taken advantage of. The combination of tiny portions, inflated prices, and lengthy waits made it seem like a complete scam. I would strongly caution anyone considering dining here to think twice and explore other options in the area. This was, without a doubt, a regrettable...
