IL Fornello Restaurante Italiano — Restaurant in Alicante

In a lovely location and even better if they give you an outside table unfortunately they didn't /wouldn't. Waiting staff looked miserable and were unfriendly clearly not enjoying their jobs. My seafood risotto was mostly inedible the rice was very under cooked let alone a creamy risotto consistency. I sent it back, no apology, the waiters muttered something to each other and gave a disparaging look. When it returned it was exactly the same so l just picked out the seafood and left the undercooked hard rice. My fellow dinner ordered a cheese and spinach calzone an unattractive vegetarian pizza was served she sent it back too When it came back it was obvious they had used the original pizza as a base and added some cheese spinach and a top It was at least edible Service was appalling, no asking if mesl OK did we want anything else. Etc. We were rushed into ordering, no drinks menu just a few cocktails on the food menu. When we hesitated about what we wanted to drink the waiter huffed and said he would come back later although the restaurant wasn't busy nor was it late, No condiments offered. Poor value for money. An absolutely shocking experience at Il Fornello Pizzeria tonight. Me, my wife and 2 children sat down at a table around 7pm for pizza, we got served wine and within 2 mins the waiter asked for my food order. My reply was "I have only just sorted what my kids would like to eat, can I have 5 mins please?" His answer was "no, otherwise I will be waiting all night". He was extremely rude and stood there impatiently waiting for my order. When the pizza and calzone came out things got worse. The pizza was base was dripping with oil, the crusts were all too hard to eat, the dough and the pizza toppings were very bland and my wifes calzone was disgusting. Please don't be fooled by the fancy modern looking shop front...

The service was terrible, we waited ages for our food order to be taken, despite being with young children who were hungry. When the food came my lasagne was burnt they had covered with cheese but tasted terrible. We tried get the attention of the waiter but were studiously ignored. We also asked for a drink menu, they didn't have one and despite having several wines on display wouldn't provide or entertain us having anything but the house wine which we couldn't understand. The other food was ok, if over priced, but overall it was a bad experience and we refused to pay for the lasagne but they disputed this vehemently. I would not recommend this place or ever...
