Bad/Racist Experience with Serving Staff I came across this Indian restaurant on my trip to Altea. Being from India, I wanted to eat some familiar food. I went just as the restaurant had opened for the day (12:40pm). I was greeted by a server in a completely empty restaurant. I asked him if there was a table for one available. Meanwhile, behind me there was a white couple. The same server chatted with them in Spanish (i don't speak any), and immediately sat them in their rooftop seating area. Coming back to me, the server started going through his iPad and asked me unimportant questions like, if I wanted to have food or only drinks. I don't understand what I want to eat has to do with table availability. Nevertheless, I answered, and he told me there is no place left on the terrace. Still, I asked if there's any place indoors. He told me to come back at 1pm. I was discouraged with their attitude towards me but I gave them the benefit of doubt that all the tables are probably reserved. Anyway, I came back at 1pm, and the server from earlier saw me and COMPLETELY ignored me. Another person, which I assume was the manager, attended to me. He simply said you can go up to the terrace (without me asking for a place upstairs). I declined and said I want to be seated inside. He didn't take a look at any iPad or anything, and just said okay, you can sit wherever you want. This interaction proved that the server from earlier lied, and was basically refusing to serve me. The whole restaurant was available, but the staff didn't want someone who looked like ME there. I don't know if the cause was racially motivated, and that they are only looking forward to serving white customers. But the incident really soured my experience, and even though the food was delicious, I could not enjoy it to the maximum. I was left deeply disrespected, for wanting to eat in an Indian restaurant as an Indian. The particular server, who is Indian himself, must be taught how to behave with his fellow countrymen and with people in general. Absolutely unexpected bigoted behaviour in the middle of such a beautiful...
Read moreOur dining experience at Crown of India was nothing short of spectacular. The breathtaking views of both the mountains and the sea provided a stunning backdrop for our meal. We opted for the Yogui Vegan Menu and were thrilled with the extensive vegan options available. 🌱 It's rare to find a restaurant with an entire vegan menu, and Crown of India has truly outdone themselves in this regard.
The food was delicious and well-prepared, each dish bursting with flavor. Ricky, our server, was a true professional. His recommendations were spot on, and his attentive service made our evening even more enjoyable. His expertise and friendly demeanor added a special touch to our dining experience.🙏🏼☺️
The evening was one we will remember fondly, not just for the amazing food and views, but also for the excellent service. The prices were also very reasonable considering the quality of food and the overall experience. We highly recommend Crown of India and look forward to...
Read moreReally hard to give a certain number of stars. Food is hands down delicious. Terrace views are magnificent. But service... Idk some of us were new to Indian quisine so we didn't want to order a lot. The waiter clearly signalled to us that such small order(but it wasn't actually. three starters and tasting menu for 4 persons) is a faux pas. At the end they tried to overcharge for the dessert which is supposed do be included in the tasting menu. When I mentioned that there is a mistake in the bill, even before I finished the sentence the waiter immediately responded "yes" and quickly went to fix the mistake. I think they do that kind of staff regularly. Other reviews also mention such situations.
Keep in mind that terrace seats are additionally charged 1,5eur per person. Also if you go, definitely try their 1euro starter flatbreads with three sauces
Tldr: good food, amazing mango lassi, bad attitude and trying to...
