The location on Cala Llamp is amazing, and the view of the sea is lovely. People walk down to the Cala and sit on towels or folding chairs, so the main benefit of the club is having sun loungers. At most of the loungers (they call them “hammocks” the umbrellas are fixed. We asked to move one of our loungers over to be in the sun and were told no, but another couple asked the same question and were moved to a bed in the sun and we watched others move their loungers around—I guess the key is to ask for forgiveness not permission. Service was underwhelming; the waiter for our area literally never checked on us and we had to go up to his stand to order. The good news is that if you’re a hot young influencer girlie, he’ll check on you lots! Food and drinks were way more expensive than anywhere else we went in Mallorca and mediocre at best. Your best value for money is probably ordering the cheapest wine on the menu; the €17-18 cocktails aren’t worth it. The best thing I had on the menu was a smoothie. As others mentioned parts of the club seem poorly maintained—the pool had a lot of floaters and the bathrooms were tiny and smelled bad. If your booking doesn’t indicate towel service, you’ll need to bring your own towels or pay €10 per person to rent a towel. Parking is extremely limited; most people park on the streets up above and walk in. You couldn’t really hear the music on the beach side we were on—but you could hear jackhammering from the construction directly above the beach! Unlike calas on the eastern side, the water is not as easy to get into; it’s a coral/rock beach so you can either jump in or awkwardly fall off the coral.
If that was the entirety of the experience, I would have enjoyed the view and the sea while being underwhelmed by the club itself.
But then I got stung by a jellyfish.
Of course, the club cannot control sea life but their response was pretty lackluster. When I got out of the water the lifeguard was very kind and immediately jumped into help. However he applied ammonia which has no evidence base to help with jellyfish stings. I went back to my seat and was crying I was in so much pain. I took ice from my wine bucket to apply while my husband went for help. The lifeguard said there was nothing else they could give us and brought me a bag of ice. The waiter chose this moment to check in on us for the first time.
We had a reservation for the following day as well, but after this incident I wasn’t particularly excited to come back. My husband had to ask a couple times to have the reservation cancelled and refunded; the manager finally agreed.
Altogether I just felt sad that despite how much pain I was in they seemed uninterested in helping treat the sting and more interested in getting us out of the way. So—if you want nice beach views, content for your Mallorca roundup on socials, and to be waited on at the beach, come through. But swim at...
Read moreAn experience, for all the wrong reasons. We dined on Wednesday 23rd July 2025. We were seated at a sea facing table with beautiful view, our waiter was eager to serve. I don’t eat shellfish and asked if she’ll free paella meant no shells or no shellfish, it was confirmed to be free from shellfish. We had two starters, very mediocre - tasted of nothing. We told the waiter upon clearing, he said he’d never had a complaint. The paella comes, it’s full of shellfish. No problem, must have been a language barrier misunderstanding. I swap my paella for the wagyu burger. We see our waiter being told off by the manager on duty. We then have no waiter and learn the young man has been sent home. The replacement burger comes, I have never been more disappointed in a meal. For €33 I was given a small burger, well done, three bites large in a huge bun with minimal garnish, a side of cheap frozen fries and ketchup. I did not eat it all. Our table was being avoided by all staff members at this point. Eventually we were able to ask for the manager. Hannes came to our table. I can truly say we received the most disappointing and disrespectful service ever. We were repeatedly interrupted and spoken to in a raised, disrespectful tone. We saw him clear our plates in the kitchen full of rage. We both work in luxury hospitality and have never experienced anything like our meal at Grand Folies. If I can offer one piece of advice - fire this man. He creates an unwelcoming atmosphere for guests and staff alike. We want to leave but nobody will come to our table, eventually I go to the host stand. The wonderful Dani provides our bill and arranges a taxi. Dani was so kind and apologetic for something that was definitely not her fault. She was the star of our experience. You have a restaurant in the most wonderful setting however the food is terrible. This must be dealt with, either by improving or lowering the astronomical prices. Yes some things were taken off our bill after our feedback however the bill left certainly did not reflect the experience we had. I would be happy to discuss further with ownership. Changes...
Read moreWe spent the day at Gran Folies beach club and overall enjoyed the beautiful setting, even if the drinks and food were clearly overpriced. However, our biggest mistake was deciding to stay for dinner — and I urge you not to repeat it.
There are so many incredible places on the island offering far better food, service, and value. We ordered the 1.1kg meat dish at €144, expecting it to be enough for one adult and two kids. Unfortunately, the dish was a complete disappointment — about 80% of it was pure fat that no one wanted to touch. On top of that, you’re expected to cook it yourself at the table on a tiny BBQ. While the concept might sound fun, the reality was anything but — we ended up inhaling smoke the entire time with our faces practically inside the grill.
When we raised our concerns with the staff and asked for the dish to be removed from the bill — or at least partially discounted — we were passed around between several people who made the whole situation uncomfortable and ultimately refused any form of compensation. For a place that markets itself as high-end, this was both disappointing and insulting. Any restaurant that respects its customers would have handled the complaint differently.
Between our two families, we spent close to €1,000 during the day, and frankly, it just wasn’t worth it. My advice? Skip the food, bring some folding chairs and a picnic basket, and enjoy the stunning beach without all the unnecessary fuss. I left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and taken advantage of. A truly beautiful location, sadly let down by poor value and even worse service. Just one more thing to add, the people who were servicing us throughout the day were lovely! Honestly, my disappointment is purely with the management team approach and decision...
