I like walking past the main area (of the harbor), especially on a clear sunny day. And I always seem to look towards the left and take a glimpse of today’s tide level while I am enchanted with the sun sparkle across the horizon. I smile and walk towards Café del Puerto; never being tired of the sights along the way (view of Teide far away and the variety of fish swimming in the harbor) as we take few photos along the way and breathe in fresh air.
Past the first restaurant on the harbor (there’s only two- minus tall blue building at the end) and you will find Ernesto; greeting us with his big smile and welcoming us like the first day we walked into his Café about year and half ago. It was Ernesto’s care and friendliness, well spoken English (it helped us because he was able to teach us Spanish more in depth), prompt and cleanliness, CONSISTENCY AND FRESHNESS OF HIS FOOD which brought us back all this time.
Enjoy the view from the waterfront... actually over the water while indulging on some great fresh seafood! We normally have some sort of salad, potatoes of some sort, sometimes anchovies and grilled shrimp alongside our main for 2 (Carvery Fish, Mixed Shellfish or Fried Mix Fish). We have tried variety of their dishes and every single time, not a disappointed meal! We almost always finish our meal with barriquito which is not only double the size of other places but also very good. We walk back much slower, arms around each other… feeling content and blissful… always so glad we made this journey.
Tip and recommendations: Café del Puerto is the 2nd restaurant on the harbor of Marina del Sur before you get to the tall blue building at the end. Winter hours do vary but closed on Tuesdays- open other days from about 12pm to 7pm ish. Need a key from Ernesto to use public bathroom near- just walk back 15ft or so and it’s the building on the left with proper signs. Don’t forget...
Read moreWe had an amazing meal at Cafe del Puerto when we finished our ski jets ride, which made us come back second and third time, this is how good the food was!!! We tried the fried fish plate, the anchovies (spectacular and so fresh), the rice with shrimps (not the paella), the shrimps plate... basically we would have ordered the entire menu if it was possible!! On top of the extraordinarily fresh fish and seafood, the place is very clean and cared for, which we really appreciated and the prices are very low considering you are after all in a harbour area. We were served by an incredibly generous, friendly and riguros person - you can see that he runs the restaurant with love for food and discipline! Absolutely loved it...
Read moreNice place just over the water, a cozy atmosphere, great food and service, amazing view of the Harbour and mountains. We enjoyed it so much that during our two weeks vacation in Tenerife, we've been there four times, even though we had the accommodation over 30 km away. The food is delicious and the owner and his family are very kind, friendly and pay attention to anything you might need. Kindly recommend this place, is a pitty that most of the people stop at the terraces at the beginning of the promenade and miss a great experience that they could have if they would go here. If you are in Las Galletas or nearby, don't hesitate to go to this small family restaurant. It will...
