Restaurante Fortuna Nova — Restaurant in Arona

We had pre-booked a table for 4 (2 adults 2 children) on arrival we was taken to our table inside. We asked for a high chair and was then told that 2 of us would have to sit on a separate table as the high chair wouldn’t allow people to walk through (it would of if the table had been moved back). I was shocked that they was expecting us to sit separately when we we out having a family meal on holiday; I thought she was joking to be honest when she suggested it. After our drinks arrived they hadn’t brought straws for the children, I politely asked could we have some straws to which I was ignored by the friendly waitress. My partner got up and went to the bar ask to for them. On his return the waitress who had served us came out from behind the bar waving straws in anger behind him, saying something to her colleague that we could not understand. My 5 year old ordered spaghetti bolognese, the portion size for her was way too much to finish. As the waitress came to clear the plates she said "take away" so we assumed she meant take the plate away to which we replied “yes”. She then came back with a tray for us to take home my partner politely said “oh no sorry we meant she had finished with it”. She then huffed and tutted at us and muttered something which we couldn’t understand again! At this point I had, had enough of their attitudes so I asked if there was problem to which she replied that there wasn’t! Where we was sat in the restaurant we could see everyone being served and as the staff were walking away from the tables, they were rolling their eyes and pulling faces; as if everything and everyone was an inconvenience to them! Having been before, and Fortuna Nova being one of our favourites places to visit in Tenerife, we were very disappointed in our most recent visit. We were served by a waitress who we haven't come across before, lacking in customer service, patience and politeness - plates were cleared before the table had finished and the bill was given without prompt, and with a person still eating. Ordinarily we would consider this a one-off, so we returned a few nights later. Lo and behold, the same attitude again, plates being cleared before the knives and forks were put down, and the bill being given without prompt - a clear sign we were out staying the waitresses pitiful welcome. Along with this the food was barely warm upon reaching our table, with the meat on my mixed grill tough and overcooked, and similar comments from other family members. I'm hesitant to recommend the restaurant, which is a shame. But I hope they can improve and regain what we liked about the place - quality food and a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere,...

Went twice to this restaurant during our stay for lunch. We took advantage on both occasions of their 3 course set meal. All their food was very delicious. The various salads they offered for starters were very well presented and tasted very good. We enjoyed their goat's cheese for starters. All their main courses were very tasty and not over filling. It was nice to have desert included for the price and again, they were all very tasty. We particularly enjoyed their apple strudel which had a touch of cinnamon. They also cater for children having a few options to order just for children.

It was lovely to enjoy the food in their outdoor area which is covered with canopies to keep everyone sheltered from the weather elements.
