This is my 3rd visit to the Star Of india.
They do an Early Bird Special for £12.95 a person (this is now on all night as we got there at 21:10pm on the 11th Aug 2022. Was suppose to end at 20:30pm but menus had this scrubbed out.
We started with 4x Popadoms and a Pickle tray.... Again this was so delicious and fresh and the prices was excellent value under €5 Euro for this part of the meal.
Crazy starter (I say that fondley) it was the amount of food you get, Crazy Big Portions (Chicken Pakoras, Onion Bhaijis, Prawn Pakoras I think they were, then the guy brought out a Chicken Tikka Sizzler out with 4x big single portions.
The mains came out and a big mistake with one of the Currys we had ordered. Myself a Chicken Balti, with rice, it was so fresh and portion size just right, they brought out a 2nd curry we asked for a Chicken Dopiaza and they brought out a Chicken Jalfrazi it was red hot in strength, we let the waiter know and he could not apologise enough and then brought the correct curry out in less than 8mins, with all the Apologies, it was well worth the wait again this was served with chips again all lovelly.
We had 2x garlic naans (light and lovelly) to help with the Currys go down. Drinks are reasonable 2 pints of Cold Dorada for myself, 1 pint for the other person and a diet coke all lovely drinks cold.
After the mistake with the main meal they could not do enough to make the rest of our meal perfect or satisfactory. They gave us all a complimentary drink at the end, they brought my daughter a free ice cream.
I can't thank the establishment enough for their efforts, quality of food, and the efforts to make up for a minor mistake.... It is the sign of a genuinely great establishment to go all out to make up and they did so much so that I tipped the waiter more than I would usually.
This is one of all my all time favourite Indian Restaurants for a curry. 5 star food, 5 star service.
Thank you for making my eating experience here a Positive one.
Thank you to the Wiater personally for the Excellent service, the Indian Chap with the Glasses.
PS: This is a genuine review from a genuine paying client to this establishment. I know I received some grace and favour for the minor mistake with the wrong curry being served. But I have rated this review on the excellent food, and the genuine excellent customer service...
Read moreThe restaurant is located near Playa de las Américas in the south part of Tenerife, in C. Mexico.
Do not get fooled by the location, most restaurants may have a sea view but the quality may be not up to your expectations.
This restaurant left us wanting to come back a second time and in my opinion the BEST RESTAURANT we’ve visited in 2 weeks in Tenerife.
The menu contains a variety of typical indian dishes and sauces you can choose, as well as a predefined menu set for less than 13€.
Both of the times we went there, we had the predefined menu, which has 5 starters, a main dish with a side dish.
For the main dish you can choose between chicken, lamb, prawns or vegetables. For the side dish you can have rice, tandoori naan or chips.
We had chicken curry and chicken madras and tandoori naan, I cannot describe how exquisite it was. I definitely recommend it!
You can choose the sauces from the menu and the staff helps you make the right choice (hot/spicy, a bit spicy, not spicy at all, dairy free).
We were astonished by the professionalism of the staff. No, you won’t get bothered every two seconds as most restaurants do (something I personally hate). The staff will only come to take away and bring new dishes and ask you for you feedback AFTER you have finished your dish, in a very polite way.
The starters were exquisite, the chicken was tender, the sauces were a delight.
I cannot express how happy we were after we went there.
You will not be...
Read moreBased on the good reviews I decided to try this restaurant but I wasn't impressed.
Not the best location on the side of a busy road but the inside decor was OK.
I ordered Onion Bhaji starter and Chicken Tikka Karahi, as you will see from the photo the Onion Bhaji was flat dry and rock hard making it difficult to cut. The Karahi curry had way too much onion, I have had aound around 20 Karahi's in the last 12 months and this one had 3 to 4 times more onion. The onion completely overpowered the the taste of the curry sauce. I complained to the waiter who pointed to the menu and said it states that it contains onion, I said that it was the amount of the onion that was the issue - the menu also states you do gin and tonic but I m sure you don''t serve 2 thirds gin with 1 third tonic!!
On a positive note the prices were very good and the complimentary brandy was a...
