Absolutamente no recomendable
Absolutely not advisable! We were a group of ten women and had a terrible visit to the restaurant ‘Alt Heidelberg’ in Barcelona. The food was mostly cold, one menu was spoilt, the tomatoes were mouldy, the chips were raw and everything was bland. The chef was rude, unable to accept criticism and disrespectful. When we raised the problems with him in English, he switched to Spanish and told us: ‘We are in Spain, here you have to speak Spanish ....’. He showed no goodwill and we had to pay the full bill. We also felt intimidated by three male employees standing at the entrance with broad shoulders. At least the bottled beer tasted good. 😉 For us, the pub deserves less than 5 stars. This restaurant is not an example of good German cuisine Absolutely not...
Read moreWe like Heidelberg except the staff. From the manager to the staff NO ONE says hello, no one asks if you want a beer even though you are sitting at the bar. The staff hate to work, to serve customers. They ALL act like they are doing us, the customer a favor by serving us. Once we wanted to sit at a table. Unfriendly manager did not smile, was rude and asked "are you going to eat" in an hostile way. Qwe had to beg for a table. Yes we were going to eat. It is so unpleasant we don't want to go anymore. How can the owner allow this. Not one staff has smiled, said welcome or hello to any customer. This starts with the hostile manager and all...
Read moreQuite how we incorrectly identified 'Alt Heidelberg' as a Tapas Restaurant is still under review. Nonetheless once we had perused the menu it quickly became apparent that we had made a very grave error, the gravity of which was about to become increasingly stark.
I had the house speciality, a unification-era German flag of sausages with chips. The blood sausage was actually quite nice. The pink one wasn't and I'm not sure I will ever be able to fully trust a totally white sausage. I was correctly suspicious of the steak and chips for 8.50. You get what you pay for I suppose. It was pretty cheap, and it...
