What was good: the parmesan croquetas. 10/10 for those!

What was not good: the service received, the time the dishes took, price vs portion size

The server taking care of our table had little enthusiasm and I felt like we were an inconvenience at times, which is a shame as a table with no specific requests or dietary requirements that were there to celebrate a birthday and relax.

Dishes that take a short time to prepare took a long time to be served (pan con tomate, cheeseboard, ensaladilla de pollo). This is ok when you see a restaurant full of guests, but this was not the case.

The price was, from my experience, high for the size of the dishes. I specifically refer to the tortilla (which is more an french omelette in style) and the squid dish, which was for me, sufficient for one person as an appetiser, not a shareable tapa size. If a dish is made with ingredients of high quality, which increase the cost, these ingredients should be outlined, to justify the cost in some way. An example of this would be the bocadillo de calamares. Anybody who has tried one before, or Google’s an image, will have an expectation and risk being disappointed by the bars version as it is very different. A clearer explanation on the menu would reduce this risk.

Looking back on the meal, I regret not sharing this feedback in the restaurant at the moment to our server. However, seeing the suspicious amount of positive reviews here, I felt it important to share this genuine diner feedback to set expectations to future potential diners and to inform the team of my experience at their establishment, to help improve it for future guests.

In summary, I felt the price of the experience was too high for the food and service we received and for this reason I...

We came past this place and saw the amazing menu on the wall. By change they had a table available on the terrace. They have a great house gin & tonic for 5€. We originally were just looking for a place to have a cooling drink but I NEEDED (sure there is a law written about this) to taste The ensaladilla russa with chicken. (normally it’s with tuna). It was super nice. I have to say I prefer it with chicken a lot more now I tasted this. We continued drinking here and decided to try steak tartare that was also of a super quality. Super wel cutter and presented lovely. It was great to have a good red wine with this (the Rioja). The terras and inside seem to fill up nicely whilst we were there but we never felt rushed to move for a bigger group or fully eating guests. The staff here was fantastic. Marina made us feel very welcomed and is super efficient and thoughtful. Locals and tourists come here and I heard very good English level spoken by the staff and of-course they speak...

Overpriced, not fresh and small portions. Not sure of the other reviews.. the brava sauce was marinara without any spices, the bocata de calamars were 6.50€ and more montaditos than a real bocadillo. The croquetas were ok, served cold, as was the small omelette which was a french omelette with some bits of cheese and meat. Not as good as the cheaper classic restaurants nearby.
