I love the food at Uniko. I've been a customer for years. I've ordered food twice now from this new branch, Uniko 2, and both times it has arrived over two hours later, cold and congealed. I have been forced to call multiple times, and they just keep lying about what is going on with the food. It is bizarre. I ordered the food this last time exactly at 20:00, when they opened, and it arrived after 22:00. The worst part is that they told me it would take half an hour when I first called. An hour later, when I called, they said it would take ANOTHER half an hour. Then when I called at THAT time, they told me the driver left twenty minutes ago with the food. I live eight minutes from the restaurant. Then ten minutes after THAT when I called, they told me the driver left 15 minutes ago from the restaurant. So obviously, they're either lying, or there's a time warp inside the restaurant. Ten minutes after THAT, when I called, they told me the driver was stuck in bad traffic. Again, I live eight minutes from the restaurant, and I looked outside... where there was no traffic (obviously). Ten minutes after THAT, while I was in the midst of calling AGAIN, the food arrived. Unsurprisingly, cold. To add insult to injury, the soup dumplings were all but devoid of soup. I'm aware that there are meant to be three strikes, but this is the second time this has happened (last time, same story, only with missing items as well), and I'm done. Tasty food that doesn't arrive tasty, and way way way later than it is supposed to just isn't worth the trouble. Sorry to say, I don't recommend you waste...
Read moreOn the whole would satisfy a craving for authentic Chinese food. On the blander side and not as refined as what you'd get from say Ding Tai Fung (which is Taiwanese anyway) but that's not a bad thing since a lot of the food we've had in Barcelona is too salty.
Rice cake soup - 4.25 stars Light but flavourful, perfect if you need something for a sensitive stomach.
Vegetable and pork wanton soup - 4 stars
Tofu with century egg - 4 stars Hard to go wrong with this.
红烧牛肉面 - 3.75 stars On the bland side but I liked the beef.
Pork rib - 3.5 stars Strong black vinegar taste and a bit too sweet for me.
Xiao long bao - 3.5 stars Skin is pretty thick, meat is firm and not very flavorful. Doesn't have that luscious greasy fat layer some XLBs have. Sort of the kind you find in some tonkotsu ramen broths.
Sheng jian bao - 3 stars On the bland side. The dough is pretty thick.
Kung pao chicken - 3 stars
Har gao - 2.5 stars
鱼香茄子 - 2.5...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have been in Barcelona for a couple of days, and we wanted a break from Spanish food. This Chinese food was amazing, and it was better than most of the local restaurants in Chinatown London. We were clearly the only tourists there, but the staff were super friendly!!! The menu had rough English translations on it, which was enough to get by with the help of the waitress, who spoke some English.
The food was melt in your mouth, delicious!!! The dim sum was so good, most notably the soup dumplings. All the other main dishes, from rice to noodles to pork and other vegetable dishes, were great. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to any tourists in the area looking for a change of cuisine after too much tapas. Furthermore the price is quite reasonable. To any locals reading this,...
